Test Ride Shocks

We have been considering putting together a couple of sets of shocks to be used as loaners/rentals so people can try them before making the investment. The program would go something like this:

Customer signs up on a rental agreement for $25 to $50 to pay for shipping one way and places a Credit Card for deposit for the retail price of the shocks.

We send the customer a set of shocks to try out for a mutually agreed upon time period. At the end of that period the customer ships them back.

If the customer wants to purchase a set, then the deposit is kept and transferred to sale less the rental and shipping and a new set is then shipped to the customer.

This is unprecidented in this industry to get to test drive before you buy. No one else is offering something like this. Would anybody be interested in a program like this? Do you have any comments or suggestions? We are all ears.

Sign me up! Are we talking stock replacements or Long Travel kits? I like the 50" width of the RZR but I don't like the harsh ride on the rocks and high speed trail riding through the ruts and rooted areas.

Steve, I think this is a great idea. As you know, I am on the fence at the moment and having the ability to test a set of MT2s before committing to them is attractive. I think you'll find most people would like to try before they buy, especially on mid to high dollar items like shocks. Great Idea.

I'm also very interested. Are you planning on doing this with the MT1 and MT2? Also would the loaner set received be some sort of compromise rather than the usual custom-tweaked sets?

Re: Test Ride Shocks

Yep. The MT2's are a few hundred more than Walker Evans Racing shocks I as looking at, but if they perform well I won't mind spending a little more money. I need new shocks to go with the new top end in my RZR. I can't wait until I get back in December to ride again...

Re: Test Ride Shocks

That picture would be sweet if you had a helmet on.

Well, it's still sweet...
Do you go through a lot of bushings? I'm wondering if new shocks will help me save a few dollars on all the bushings I replace.

John, do you have the MT1s or MT2s? How is the slow hardball/hardpack ride with the AFCOs?

We'll probably do a set of each with a good all around set up. We tested today on a Teryx with a new Shim stack setup that is for very soft ride but you can still jump 3 to 4 ft. and it lands smooth as silk. I am as excited as a little kid on Christmas morning. We need to test a variation on an RZR and look out competition. I swear to you, this was a stock arm Teryx and it rode better than any other UTV I have driven including long travel. I didn't want to get out!
