What is the all around best LT kit for the dunes?

Looking for the best all around kit for the RZR. I am seriously looking at the FST. Fireball, and the LSR +4 or +8 also interest me. I posted this question on glamisdunes and got an overwhelming response regarding the RZR Mafia kit. What do all of you guys think? I am confused. It is going to driven hard in the dunes only. I want a kit that is proven and will work good for all around hard driving. What have you guys seen and been around that works. I have seen all the youtube video's of the LSR and FST kits and from the looks of the videos I would say the the FST will take the big bumps very well, but how does it do slow speed when you just wanna cruise? Thanks for any input!

I would look for a manf. that can tell you things like how much tow change (bumpsteer),what the caster, camber, and scrub radius is...I have asked a couple these questions, but none seem to know....These are all very important factors to consider, since it's not all about just a smooth ride, but good handling and cornering abilities.....Any reputable builder/designer of one of these kits should be able to answer these simple questions.....If they can't, chances are their kit won't be worth buying....

Re: What is the all around best LT kit for the dunes?

The fireball kit uses aluminum bodied bilstien shocks with 7 inches of stroke. I think the 3" and 4" kits use stock length shocks. I'm sure the new LSR kit will have the longer shocks, weather they are bilstiens or Elkas etc.

I ride in the desert, so I don't really know what all the ins and outs of duning are. I quit going to the dunes at Pismo a long time ago. Too many trash leaving, pallet burning idiots in too small of an area.

Our MTS kits use the same values that Polaris has in stock form. The caster, camber are the same. The scrub radius is the same if you use stock wheels with no offset. If you add wheel spacers, and or offset wheels you will increase the scrub radius, and put a lot more stress on the spindles, front and rear.

The XTR kits aren't set in stone yet. We are currently testing them to see what works the best for higher speed rougher terrian type driving. We will probably end up with more caster than stock (assumption), change the camber a tad because of the raised ride height, and the scrub radius will stay the same. The scrub radius can't change unless the spindles, wheel hubs, or wheels change. Actually.. i take that back, it can be changed a little if the spindle pivot points (ball joint locations) are changed from stock, but we won't be doing that.

Also, the bumpsteer is the same as stock as well. There is hardly any bumpsteer in this front end, and its impossible to have a true "zero" bumpsteer on any suspension anyways.

We find that if it ain't broke, don't try and fix it!

Now, on the rhino front ends, we changed a few things, cause it needed a little improvement.

So now i guess that makes us a reputable builder of suspension. Sweet.. thanks hoodlum! Just messin with ya!

Re: What is the all around best LT kit for the dunes?

I think the RZRCRAP Kit built by extreme machine is the best but its my kit I had 600 miles on my personal rzr with "0" problems and we dune hard as far as whos is the best ? I can give you a couple of peoples numbers that we have sold kits to so you can ask them yourself but our feedback is 100% positive I have a customer with 3 rzrs 2 have lonestar 4" kits and he likes our 6" kit better I also have a guy with 2 rzrs one is a long travel industries kit that the welds broke on the arms
and he seams to like ours better lol anyhow as some of you know I own utvcrap.com and can buy any kit out there as I do want the best and can buy the best..
I will even say I know we can make our wer shocks even better then they are now so we offer a free revalve on the shocks when they are 101% right we have been working with walker shocks alot....
and Ill give anybody a 30 day 100% money back gaurantee

Go to FST 4x4 Offroad Truck Fabrication Suspension Technology there kit is the most comprehensive kit for strengthening the areas of the frame that need it most no other kit on the market has the bracing that theres has we have beat them to death with no problems. We are a dealer for FST let me know if you have any questions.

Re: What is the all around best LT kit for the dunes?

I am with pgreg on the FST kit. Tory and the boys have done their homework to strenghten the suspension mounting points and actually give the shock a straight enough axis to work with that make the shocks tune able, has usable caster, and some darn nice bracketry. The FST kit is designed with Baja in mind. The shock and spring combo are best opted for a machine buzzing though the desert at high speed with stock offset wheels and tires, unless, you feel like spending some money and time on shock tuning and purchasing springs for those offset wheels and spacers. I too sell the FST kit and love it on the race car, for me it is not near as comfortable of ride to do some bowl slashin. Fireball, LSR, these guys had you in mind. Great kits, at reasonable prices, at a lower weight, and will do what you asking it to do within reason.

Re: What is the all around best LT kit for the dunes?

I like what I'm reading about the FST kit. I've done a lot of reading on RZR LT setups and I keep coming back to the FST kit. I know there are a few manufactures on this site of other kits so I would like to know how they think their kits stack up to the FST kit. To me the FST kit looks like it's the most complete out of the bunch, but I'm new to the RZR scene so I would like to make sure I know everything there is to know about the kits before I purchase one.

FST kit

I'm coming off a very well built Suzuki LTR with full long travel and a few other quality parts. I'm going with a RZR because I've had a few shoulder surgeries and the doc says no more quads. The RZR will be used 99% in the dunes. I'm in Oregon so I ride our dunes the most, but I just got back from Glamis about a month ago and I plan to go back a few times a year. I want a LT kit that can keep up with my fast/hard riding style. That is why I was thinking the FST kit and then a nice roll bar first. I bought Fox/Walsh for my LTR because I felt they were the best out there for the LTR. I would like to get the same for the RZR. I only want to do this once

Does anyone know if the Rigid Industries - UTV Customization Yamaha Rhino, Polaris RZR, Polaris Ranger, Arctic Cat Prowler, Suspension, Long Travel, Performance, Cages, Bumpers, LED Light Bars kit is the same as the FST kit? They look the same to me.

Re: What is the all around best LT kit for the dunes?

I got the chance to see Mafia's RZR at the CORR race in Primm back in Nov. there was also a HOLZ it seemed that Mafias handled amazing the HOLZ bounced around a lot I'm sure it's a shock thing. We will be going with the LSR 8" more than likely I just have heard so many good things about them. I'm sure there are others that perform great as well. Any LT is better than stock though.

Re: What is the all around best LT kit for the dunes?

Lat time I talked to Kevin at Holz they were redesigning their long travel suspension kit.
I look forward to putting their system up against the FST.

I looked at the Holz kit because they are close to me, but from what I saw they didn't have the same bracing that the FST kit has. This is exactly the kind of feedback I'm looking for so keep it coming. To me the FST kit looks the most complete, but like I said I'm just now starting the research so I can use all the info you guys have.

Does anyone have experience with FabTech RZR LT Kit and Shock Combo? From pictures, seems to be well engineered??

Re: What is the all around best LT kit for the dunes?

I'm doing a RZR build story for Toyhauler magazine and Fabtech installed their long travel kit and Dirt Logic shocks with rezzies on our RZR. It's typical first class Fabtech stuff They busted up the frame on their test RZR so my frame has been gusseted where needed as part of the kit. We had the RZR out at Ocotillo Wells over the New Years holidays and if you've never been there, Ocotillo has whoops galore. The Fabtech kit was nothing short of amazing soaking up the biggest hits while floating over the small stuff. I'm ruined and will never be satisfied with a stock RZR again to be honest, it's that good. The kit will be availabe to the general public in a couple weeks. I'll be posting details as I get them, suffice to say the Fabtech kit is top notch.

LTRZR,

Thanks for the reply, I have had some experience with Street truck / Fabtech mods, good to hear they are building the same high quality into RZR Tech. Look forward to seeing their new pieces.
