They may sell the steering stops as a stand alone kit.
Yep thats 90% of what people are hearing"binding" and not bad cv's. If you dont turn to sharp you wont hear the clicking bind.
Mine has seemed to stop binding sense I lifted it.
By the way its easy to check to see if the cv joint is bad just by tring to wiggle the axle. If theres slack in it then its bad. If its tight then all is good. I do the same thing to my pickup driveshafts.

Re: clicking front axles

Ok...so mine with a little over 300 miles is doing this now and my dad's practically brand new one with less than 100 is doing it too. Sounds exactly like a bad front CV joint to me. Mine is the left front and only seems to do it when turning hard left. The dad's does it going straight, turning...doesn't seem to matter. The post above about being able to wiggle the axle intrigues me. So...one should not be able to take the half shaft in hand and wiggle it AT ALL? I can wiggle the half shafts on both sides of both or our rzr's. And not just a little either...there's enough play to get an audible clunk.

Re: clicking front axles

I'm sure some people might have cv's that need replaced, but I think most of you should seriously try pulling your hub, regreasing everything and tighten axle nut to approx 80 lbs of torque. You might be surprised if the clicking goes away and you didn't have to waste gas and time hauling it to a dealer. For those of you that are mechanically challenged, it isn't very hard at all.

It's definitely worth a try at least.

Re: clicking front axles

I did as suggested...pulled my hubs, regreased it and retightened the axle nuts and the noise seems to have stopped. FWIW...there was barely any grease in either hub but the one with the most noise had the least amount of grease. Also...the axle nut on that side seemed to be way too loose. I think I'll look at the rear hubs too. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion boatnaz.

Re: clicking front axles

No problem. I was having the same issues and someone on this forum told me about doing that, and it worked. That's what these forums are for, to help each other out.

Re: clicking front axles

Thanks again to RZR forums for saving me money.

My front axles were clicking like crazy, I figured...oh crap a blown U-joint or two. I read this thread and went out to the garage re-greased and re-torqued the axles and axle nuts and problem solved.
Thank you all for your input and sage advice!!
BTW it took me an hour start to finish and I was in no hurry

We should get together for a ride sometime..
BTW.... would you mind posting or e-mailing the full size, it looks pretty cool but hard to see the terrain in the avatar.

I'm not clear on what's being greased. Are you opening the CV boots and adding more there or greasing the axle splines or the spindle bearing or...??

I don't have the clicking but wanted to have a look anyways.

Re: clicking front axles

I didn't touch the cv boots at all. I just pulled the hub and greased the axle splines and inside hub area, and retightened to aprox 80 ft lbs. That's all it needed for my clicking and most others to go away. Some people were saying, if you had a gen 1, you could add another spacer to your axle nut. Mine already had two and was good, just needed more torgue on axle nut.

Re: clicking front axles

I did the same as BoatnAZ and all the clicking stopped.
When I did,I marked the axle nuts to establish current torque values before tightening, the break away torque on the front passenger was 18lbs the return to mark torque was 21lbs, on the drivers side the break away torque was so low it didn't register on the wrench. Both rears were already at 80 but I took them apart to regrease anyhow.
I was wondering if anyone has a theory about how a pinned nut can lose that much torque without moving.
