guys with lifts - dealer says "dont do it!"???

First...great site!

I'm a RZR newbie, picking mine up next week. I need to accessorize! You guys are costing me way too much $$$ with all the cool stuff available.

I was planning on going with a 2" lift (maybe with Highlifter Springs) with SS108 black wheels (med offset?) with some 26" tires. I conveyed this to my dealer and he said, "DON'T DO A LIFT". Reasons are the same as discussed in some threads here....too much angle/stress on stock parts and such.

He said to go with a LT kit (sells DragonFire). Sure, I'd love to if I had the extra $5k. The other problem is that some atv trails are starting to get gated off...so I am told.... keeping the wide utv's out. I believe its 52" max(?)

Of those who have added a lift to your machine, has anyone had problems? What were they? I would really like to get the additional clearance, but I don't want to end up replacing the front end due to the lift.

Plus, now that my dealer has recommended not to do it...not sure how thrilled/willing he'll be to warranty something in the front if it goes south?

No problems here. Dealers are not "supposed" to warranty any lifted vehicles. Many do warranty them. With 26s, I cant say I would recomend a lift. I would lift it if it cant clear tires like 28s-31s.

Re: guys with lifts - dealer says "dont do it!"???

I have 26" tires with a 2" lift and haven't had any problems that I would relate it to. My rear right axle did break a while back but that was before the lift --- I think the problems with axles are with the axles.

2" lift here, no problems, also have 26" mudlites. I really dont see enough of a change in the axel angle to be a problem.....

Re: guys with lifts - dealer says "dont do it!"???

So far this is what I want to hear....

How did the ride/handling change before/after lift? Offset wheels compensate for the lift in regards to stability?

I was thinking about going with the Rubberdown lift.

Going with the 26" tires extended my width to about 54" and by adding the 2" lift the over feel is about the same to me as stock, just feel a little taller. When it was stock, I put it on its side 3X; havent done that yet with the lift and bighornes- no issues of stability here. The radial tires gives a much better ride.

I'll speak for the LT. It's worth every penny if you have riding areas that allow for the extra width. I gained much needed ground clearance and stability. I think it ends up a safer machine with the LT.

Re: guys with lifts - dealer says "dont do it!"???

I've got the 3" Extreme lift with 1 1/2" adapters on 27" outlawas and 27" XTRs. Yes, the width did change but i did it for stability reasons. I heard too much about people turning them over and too broke to buy plastic. The ride is a tad bit stiffer due to the compressed springs on front but have no issues with the axles in a bind and i rip through the mud with no prob.

Re: guys with lifts - dealer says "dont do it!"???

Guess I just have a good dealer. I fell in love with the RZR sitting on the showroom floor with 3" extreme lift and 28" mud lights. I bought my lift from them .

2" lift, 27" Swamplites no problems

I had the dealer install the lift = no warranty issues

I ride it like I stole it, when the wife is not with me

Re: guys with lifts - dealer says "dont do it!"???

If the dealership says no then I would either not install it, or find another dealership to go to for warranty work.

You can always take it off before it goes to the shop....

I would talk to the dealership and see if they are going to be butts about it if you lift it 2 inches.
