Nobody willing to help? It seems the rear axles are from a diffrent manufacturer than the fronts by looking at them. Was there a revision anybody knows of? If so, how do I seperate the new design?!

the center still comes out. I used a large brass drift and b.f.h. and it still took a bit. I think the clips get stuck in the star real bad. They will still come apart though

Re: axle woes during LSR MTS install...

Yeah.. we have found on a few that they have been a pain. The chamfer in the inside edge of the star is pretty much non-exsistant.

You can pry the axle side ways so it attempts to pull the balls out. There are small impressions that keep the balls from coming out. You can put a little force on the axle sideways, and use a medium sized flat blade screw driver to help pry the 1st ball out. Then get the rest out doing the same thing. Don't just hammer on it, because you can damage the cage and races. But it can be done fairly easily. Once you get the axle, star and cage loose from the outer housing, remove the cage from the star, and push the axle out of the star from the other side using a press. I have machined the end of the axle off in a couple instances, because that clip just didn't want to compress. So we machined the end of the axle off to gain access to the clip.

Yeah.. i did one of those too.. so if they don't pop using about 3 tons of force, i machine the end off. It cut the spline tooth profile into the snap ring when it popped.. it was crazy! We are also including the snap rings incase you destroy them trying to get them apart.

Hey thanks for the help all, I did buy a press and got it but trashed the clip and boy did it BANG! LOL but now I figured it out, if you pound it on farther first, then try to take it off it seems to not get stuck so bad! for what its worth....
