Highlifter springs and shock spacers?

I've been running my stock shocks with the Hunterworks 1" spring spacers on the front shocks. Last night, I put on my Highlifter springs and 2" rubberdown kit, then set the front shocks as soft as they'll go....anybody know if should expect any problems with having the new springs and the 1" spacer? Haven't gotten to ride anywhere yet due to weather, so I just wondered if anyone else has this setup, and if it runs too stiff. I'm mostly riding on wooded trails in eastern Kentucky.

Re: Highlifter springs and shock spacers?

doctahB i have stock springs and spring spacers but the same deal i havent got to run it hard. what tires do you have. I have 27inch mud lights and the highlifter kit. I cant wait to compete with you in the mud and mountain trails. I will have to take it a little easy do to the wife. but i hope we can find a deep thick mud hole with vary little water. If your highlifter springs work good i will have to get them. also i pulled up on the rear of my rzr and set the shocks at the top and i think this is where it would ride if i put spacers in the rear. this would give me 14.5 inch's of clearance under skid but im worried about axle angle. my axle's are about as far as i want them. I will look at yours and see what i think. when you get a chance turn your wheel and push you rzr and see if thay bind a little. my rzr is just at the point where you can feel a small amount of bind. let me know what clutch set up you have and how it works (in detail) well hope to see you in my rearveiw and dont forget to duck in the mud hole.

Re: Highlifter springs and shock spacers?

Sounds like fun! I can't wait to make it to Evarts....If the weather stays clear, I'm going riding with some friends tomorrow afternoon, I'll let you know how it does. Haven't had a chance to measure my clearance yet, as it's been raining up until this morning. I was worried about the front binding up, and I've got a set of the Hunterworks spacers for the front coming in tomorrow; hopefully I'll get them in before we leave for the day.

With the highlifter springs and the 2 inch lift, my rear tires are just barely wider than the polaris rock sliders, maybe a half inch on each side. Trails are narrow here, so I'm trying to stay as narrow as I can without tipping all the time

Re: Highlifter springs and shock spacers?

I just installed my highlifter kit and noticed when I turn my front wheels really hard one way the long bolt they supply for the sway bar hits the tires.I have 29.5 outlaw tires I don't think it makes a difference on size or not, they still rub.Crank your wheels hard and see if it digs into your sidewall?I had to take a zip cut and get rid of the excess.Hope this helps.

Re: Highlifter springs and shock spacers?

The Rubberdown kit relocates the sway bar for this reason.

It must be because of the 10"wide tires I have????? Mine hit, I just thought I would mention it incase you never noticed, I never noticed mine was hitting until I was showing a buddy of mine and he turned the wheel all the way and I seen it was hitting.

I run 27x9x12 with a -43 off set tork rim. this puts me at 53 inch's wide in the front.

Re: Highlifter springs and shock spacers?

The HL kit was NOT desinged to work well with stock wheels and tires, or wide wheels with an aftermarket rim in most cases, they actually started to sell a wheel that would work well with there kit if I'm not mistaken, and thats pretty lame if you ask me. My kit as mentioned will work with stock rims and tires or any tire/wheel combo due to the way the front swaybar is slightly re-located. This was the hardest part of the design when I was testing it with Bigdog800EFI, he had both the stock wheels and tires and the 27" bighorns that run pretty wide and we worked on it until it worked with any tires/wheel combo.

Re: Highlifter springs and shock spacers?

If you look at pics in post #4 you can see the bolt that is to long. all you need to do is put it in the other way or put a shorter bolt in. I have 27x9x12 on the front and i have lots of room. if you go with bigger tire up front i would put a shorter bolt in. or you can buy a rubberdown kit.

Or you can just take a zipcut blade in a angle grinder and shorten the bolt, that is all I did and it worked great.

Re: Highlifter springs and shock spacers?

If you do more mud or rock riding that requires articulation, you should disconect the front swaybar all together ,you dont have to worry about leaning because you still have a rear one.

Re: Highlifter springs and shock spacers?

Yep, disconnected my front ones this week and set the shocks back to stock...really good ride with the springs and spacers both. I was getting some "clunk" under the hood when I came back up from a compression; we decided it was the sway bars maxxing out....took 'em loose, and now it's all good. Much more travel, and turns a lot sharper, but dives a little more in the corners. Since I'm not a speed demon, I doubt it'll be a problem.
