2inch feel tipsy?

Hey Gang, I was wondering for those of you running 2 inch lifts, does it make the rzr feel more tipsy or is it still pretty comfy as far as ride concerns?

I want to put mine up in the air a little, but think the mid travel(while I'm sure it rides WAY better) would be overkill. Id just like a little more clearance, and maybe a little extra travel? Will a 2 inch kit do that? Or should I just save my pennies for a MT kit?

[im 50% dunes, and 50% AZ desert trails] But we like to drive fast!

I was reading in another thread that just getting aftermarket shocks set up for the rzr dramatically improve the ride...any input on that?

thanks guys!

Re: 2inch feel tipsy?

I installed a 2" rd kit two months ago and couldn"t be happier. I have not lost any performance and actually feel more secure with the lift since most of my rding is in the NV desert.

Re: 2inch feel tipsy?

Chuck, did you gain any travel at all? Do the 2+ just use the stock shocks?

I'm mostly concerned about bottoming out in the big bowls and clearing rocks on the trails.

thanks

Re: 2inch feel tipsy?

I think everyone that has added the 2" lift to their RZR really likes it.One of my riding friends has the kit and likes it on his RZR so I'm going to add a 2" lift to mine also.

Re: 2inch feel tipsy?

Hey Jeep have you put spacers on yet? I put 1.5's on and with the shocks tightened all the way it made a pretty good improvement (good bang for your buck). UTV crap has all four for $133.00 OTD!

Jeephreak
I measured before and after. The front gained 1 7/8" and the rear went up 2 1/8". My suspension is otherwise completely stock. I did increase my shoks to the 3rd position. LOL

Re: 2inch feel tipsy?

Thanks guys, I have the spacers on and its feels good where it is, just worried that bumping it up 2 inches will put me back to the tipsy stock feeling?

Re: 2inch feel tipsy?

Unless you add enough width to compensate for the raised center of gravity you will be more tippy then stock. It's just a matter of physics. I've herd of more then one who removed their lift kit due to instability even with offset rims and spacers. It all depends on if the increase in ground clearance is worth the trade off of decreased stability. A lift kit is at best a bandade solution to gaining more ground clearance. At worst it screws up your suspension geometry, handling, ride quality, durability and stability.

I need more ground clearance too, but I'm not about detroy the high speed and technical handling I love about the RZR with a lift kit. I'm getting the CST mid travel suspension. Their saying you gain 3" of ground clearance at the chassis and 1" at the spindles. The arms are 3" longer then stock so it will ad less then 6" to the width total due to the angle of the A-arms. I should be at about 55" with stock size tires and stock offset rims. With stock size tires I'll gain back the power I lost with my 26" Bighorns. I realize this solution will cost 15-20x what a lift kit would, but I just can't bring myself to trade everything I like about the RZR just to gain a few inches of ground clearance.

Re: 2inch feel tipsy?

I just installed a Rubberdown lift with 1 1/2 inch spacers, and it seems great. I didnt notice it feeling anymore tippy, and it still handels as good as it did bafore. I guess I only raised it 2 inches, but widened it 3, so it should be more stable than it was. Here is a piture or two.

Trevorsride - what wheels and tires are you running, what offset on your wheels? Do you rub at all? Its a good looking ride!
