lt and mid travel kits

is it me or are thes kits way to expensive for what you get.....i can lift my truck for 1/4 of most of these kits......i think without shocks and with only axle shafts they should be around $1500....i know they have r&d costs but there is not that much as for production cost in my opinion.......and what about us wood riders who dont want to be +3,+4, or wider......running itps you already widen you stance by a couple of inches then add a +3 kit and you have widened by 8-9 inches...putting you wider than a rhino....... i dont want to run spacers for maybe a +1.5-2 inch or the wide offset wheels ans this is just too hard on wheelbearings.....so where is a +2 kit at a reasonable price....

Re: lt and mid travel kits

i have a friend who works with me who can fabricate anything and i think this cage/bumper/skid/ suspension market could stand a budget line for the guys who cant to upgrade due to the cost......we may be onto something here.....

Re: lt and mid travel kits

Some of my riding buddies work at a steel company and have done bumpers and cages for their trucks and jeeps; I’ve thought a couple of times about getting them together and designing items for sidexside’s especially when I see people charging what they do. It’s outrageous; I have already spent more upgrading my RZR than my Truck.

Re: lt and mid travel kits

If I had the cash laying around I wouldn't mind spending $4500 for a 4" LT but I don't. I just think it's crazy you can by LT, Cage, Bumpers, and seats with harness's and be in it more than you paid for the damn thing. lol

Re: lt and mid travel kits

I was just having this same conversation with friends. How hard can it really be to fab a-arms 2 inches longer? LTs are $$$$

Re: lt and mid travel kits

A 4" lift with 37 Toyos on 20" Chrome rims on our 05 Cummins is cheaper than any LT. CST and LSR have affordable kits but then you still have to buy shocks if you want to drive it out of your driveway.

If you have your own business you can understand some of these prices. Insurance cost for 1 year in most companies these days exeed the total net profit for a year and if you have the proper insurance to be a fabricator its some of the most exspensive insurance out there. Don't get me wrong I think these prices for LT are way high myself but then agian I understand why and just deal with it, trust me there is not that much of a profit margin in any of the LT kits on a distributer level. O.K. off my box just my .02.

Re: lt and mid travel kits

never really thought about that. But then again how do the 4x4 companies get around it, other than just being a bigger market - guess if they can sell more and turn a profit, they can afford to lower the cost.

What we really need is for a bunch of companies to get in the game.

Re: lt and mid travel kits

I couldnt agree more with these guys. There is some MAJOR markup going on. I for one aint buying it. I could not believe the price these ""distributers" wanted just for 1.5" spacers.....$250.ish dollars! I looked on Ebay, Craigslist and clasified sections....everybody was over what I think they are worth including materials and a fair profit. My last phone call was to UTVcrap, he had them for $133.00 OTD for all four w/ the rzrforum discount. I snatched those up quick like! That is totaly reasonable price if you ask me. Prices will drop sooner or later until then keep hittn up those classified sections.

Re: lt and mid travel kits

i know all about the insurance side , i have been looking into it......and can definately agree on the markup side as a retailer/distributor......i would say most shops are honest and not trying to gouge...but have no control over there cost........i am in the business just as unleashed but still feel if i can lift my new tundra 6" with 37" tires on 20" wheels for less than suspension for my rzr.....something seems out of kilter to me......one prime example not going to metion any brands but look at cams 300 range for rzr and 150 for sportsman800 same cam other than specs for lift /duration even same manufacture....not saying that there isnt alot of difference between the two for end use and specs but how could it cost more to make.....go figure

Re: lt and mid travel kits

How about somebody build a +2 kit that we can throw Hilifter springs on our stock shocks.
That would be a good alternative for a budget, then when ready upgrade to stock length aftermarket shocks.

Re: lt and mid travel kits

i might be able to explane it a little more...
1 the truck lift kit manufactures sell about 500 kits to 1 for a utv so they can spread it alot more they get a slower return but with the volume they sell they can make the cost lowwer... now as said above insurance cost fab cost and so on and in reality we are a small market we as customers will bear the cost... do i like this no!!! but this is life... i paid 1,000 for ex on my rzr and its all of a foot long.... now my chevy diesel i got a 5 in compleat ex for 500. go figure i moan and groan about the cost but i also understand why it is what it is so i bitch and moan and groan and then i buy it anyways....lol
