RZR Ride HELP?

My wife and I are here for the winter in the Mesa AZ Area with our new 08 RZR and can't figure out where we can ride. We are not into dunes or racing, we just want to ride around the desert and go up into some hill or mountain area, maybe some trails etc. Everywhere we look... it's fences and more fences.

Since we are new to the area, we don't know anyone to ask.

Re: RZR Ride HELP?

Someone had a post and I think there are about 6 of us around Phx area. You could always try to get everyone together for a ride. Thats how I met a crapload of good people when I first moved here. There are always people who want to ride.

Re: RZR Ride HELP?

I purchased a book called Backcountry Adventures (Arizona) from Amazon.com. They make these books for California and Arizona. It shows trials everywhere and gives gps coordinates as well as difficulty and pictures of the area. It will give you the history of the trail. It's a great book and well worth $40.00. Hope you enjoy it as much as we have.
Here is the link for the book Amazon.com: Backcountry Adventures Arizona: The Ultimate Guide to the Arizona Backcountry for Anyone With a Sport Utility Vehicle (Backcountry Adventures) (Backcountry Adventures) (Backcountry Adventures): Books: Peter Massey

Re: RZR Ride HELP?

Go east on the 60 to Florence Jct. Take Hwy 79 south towards Florence. About 5 or 6 miles from the jct you will see a flag pole on the east side of the road with a large parking area outlined by a log pole fence. That is Cottonwood Canyon Road. Park there and just explore the area to the east. It should be exactly what you are looking for

I just googled this. I think Arizona is an off road friendly state. You can also carry a gun on your hip. (I'd check first)

Re: RZR Ride HELP?

If you come west about an hour and a half to the Quartzsite area you can ride just about anywhere you want. It's wide open BLM land. There is a wilderness area that keeps getting bigger to the southeast but it's easy to ride around the forbidden zone. Give it a try you'll like it.

Re: RZR Ride HELP?

Road,

My riding group and myself are from the Mesa area and ride just about every weekend. We have all lived here most of our lives, and between all of us, know all the good trails in the area and through out the state. Most rides include anywhere from 15-20 good people on bikes, quads, rhino's and rzr's and you are welcome to ride with us any time. I believe next weekend (New Years) we will be camping out at the Cottonwood Canyon Rd area that CaptAZ spoke of. You should try to join in for a day or the entire weekend.

Re: RZR Ride HELP?

Sounds like me I got some places to ride... thanks for the help. And it looks like It isn't far from the Mesa Apachie junction area.
My RZR is being delivered by a buddy of mine from Fargo, he should be here before the newyears week-end. I AM READY!!! My wife and I have had 3 ATV's but nothing like the RZR. Hope I am not dissappointed. I was looking at the Cycle Trader magazine... hard to believe what some people are asking for RZR's. Must be something to them!

Thanks again
