Are there any decent places to ride up in northern california?
Around the Sac, or San Jose area?
What type of terrain is up there?

Re: NorCal?
It's been a long time since I went anywhere out there. There used to be an ORV Park in Sacramento County... If I remember correctly it was in between Folsom and Sacramento. I want to say it was off White Rock Road. I know a while back you could ride ORV at or near Folsom Lake area, but I heard someone say you couldn't do that anymore never heard any truth to it. Another area would be out in Grass Valley out by Auburn area. I know there are a lot of open areas, but I don't know the availability to ride out there. And then the further north you go up around Redding there used to be some areas around Whiskeytown Lake and Shasta Lake areas. Hope this helps... Can't help you in the Bay Area. I was from the valley and spent most of my time there. Last time I was in Cali was over 5 years ago and left Cali about 12 years ago.

Re: NorCal?
Sure that helps!! Gives me places to research at the least. I read something about an OHV park but I was told they dont allow campers/toy haulers. So that might create an issue. Just trying to figure out if there are any places to ride the toys up there.

Re: NorCal?
I would like the same information. I am in Lake County, 1 hour north of Napa. I have learned from another forum member that we can look at Stonyford/Mendocino Nat. Forest. Search my earlier thread asking the same question. What fun!

Re: NorCal?
Are you looking to camp with a trailer? When? How far from Sac or San Jose are you willing to go?
The only place in Sac that jmeador74 mentioned is Prarie City OHV. Prarie City is ok for kids but not too great for adults. Small and pretty flat. Hollister Hills is close to San Jose but they don't allow RZRs on the dirt bike/quad trails just on 4x4 area. Carnegie near Livermore also no RZR on trails but fun for dirtbikes/quads. Stony is good ( Mendocino National Forest - Off-Highway Vehicle Maps) or Forest Hill (Aurburn area) or Cisco Grove ( Camping in High Sierra, California) which has full hookup. I'll be at Cisco Grove 14th - 17th next week!! YES!! CAMPING!!! And I get to use this damn toy I just read about all day! lol

Re: NorCal?
I didn't know so many places wouldn't allow the RZR??
Prairie City is close to Sac but, not much of an area.
I'm gonna have to hook up with you Silly. . . Wondering about Cisco Grove.
I'm thinking about selling my Rail and getting a SxS but, then I see that I may not be able to use it in locations??? I'm looking for something I can play with locally on the weekends and the Rail is for the Sand. So, if I can't get the SxS out locally (day-trips) then I haven't gained much.

Re: NorCal?
What kind of riding are you looking for? The Rubicon and Fordyce trail are two great trails if you're looking for rocks. The El Dorado, Tahoe, and Plumas National Forests all have miles and miles of roads to explore.
