Re: Eastcoast SideXSide Nationals
It was as if this legitimate contendor never competed Snowmobile Tour and they didn't even bother to mention UTVs competing in the final race of the season (perhaps they didn't). Snowmobile Tour
I'm sure there are folks on here who can talk more intelligently as to what happened than myself; as I somehow feel sorry for any teams who gave this a shot and (I suppose) came up short.

News Flash!!!!!
Racer Productions(gncc racing) is stepping up and racing UTV'S in 08. It just makes me smile ear to ear ....2 races in the works for OH & KY. 2-3 more later in the year.Go to the gnccracing.com link and read quick fill # 3. We need to get the East coast up to speed with side x side racing, if you could post this on other forums and get the word out.Tell your friends, fellow utv buddys. We have one shot at this, lets give them (the fans) what they want. See you at the races!!!!

From all of us out here in the east; thank you very much for posting both this great news above and the race footage from last year, Dave (congrats, btw for placing!).
I will do my best to spread the word as much as possible and agree that this may be our last best shot at making these series a sustainable legacy for many years to come. I have been somewhat critical of the focus put on racing over the years at the expense of more important programs/issues that should have automatically been placed on an equal plane with the exact same funding behind it. Maybe SxSers can be the first group to bring more focus to other issues off the racetrack and do a bit more creative educating at that venue in the process.

Re: Eastcoast SideXSide Nationals
Thanks John,
I was making up a list of suggestions to send racer productions. They are asking for them so send them in. Last year they wanted to have a mandatory driver change 1/2 way through the race. (crazy) Let someone else race my RZR !!!!!! Not sure i'm up for that and i'm sure other utv owners feel the same way. ( let them no how you feel)As of now 2 races in one month will be tuff to prepare for.I was thinking mabey one a month or even every other month. Maintenance on UTV's is a little more in depth than an atv. Can anyone else think of anything ? Just like the little boy in the disney commercial. (I'm to excited to sleeeep)LOL
Im so looking foward to this. I've been to the penton many times it's a fun track. Go to racedaypics.com GNCC photos and look for that event and check out the area we will be racing in. GNCC is cross country racing so expect a woods section, open fields and an mx track. Thanks for getting the word out.

I suppose that I understand the whole distribution of weight and extra eyes concept in regards to these 2 man team races; yet I'm not sure that I'd want to race that way anyways. When we picked up one of the first Rhinos; I instantly realized that this was a 'two mode' machine for me. I had to drive it one way with somebody else's life in my hands in a lightly protected frame....and could drive completely another, without. After the Rzr arrived, I got even more 'paranoid' (for good reasoning, imo) and would just as soon follow on the atv behind to let the other person actually have some fun without taking 'all' of the responsibility (you break it, you buy it; yet you sure as heck aren't breaking me!).
Obviously, there is one heck of a lot of trust going on between pilot and co-pilot in these races, if you ask me.

I can imagine that you are pumped and pretty realistic in my mind if you don't indeed have the thing already set up like a $40,000 desert racer (or whatever these shops like Jagged and Mafia have into them). I'm having trouble coming up with many suggestions because I don't race and few on the forums ever express much interest in racing to begin with that would spark my imagination (which I've offered many times before is sad in and of itself).
How about slow charity rides for the young, old or disabled through or off the course during events to draw attention to the sport? I've been suggesting this for I don't know how many years as a way to highlight the community at get-togethers; yet it's as if 'giving back' with the machine that can finally do it is as popular as kid's training or environmentally friendly land use issues.

It sure would be nice if a community was in place that could do something 'splashy' at that first race to market not only the race itself but the people and machines participating. We've got the hottest machines out there right now; yet we're still the most disjointed bunch in the history of motorized recreation.

Re: Eastcoast SideXSide Nationals
I just got my rzr and have been putting some miles on it. All I think about is how much fun it would be to race it. I have all ways wanted to race stock cars but Iam not very mecanically icline. But utv racing, what a great afforable sport it would be. Does anyone know of any races being held in Maine or NewHapshire?
