Texas UTV MX Race!!! June 8th 2008
Tentative at this point, but the details and plans are coming together. Lets bring Short Course Racing to TEXAS! I would like to have a few different classes but it all depends on turnout. Who is up for this, we have a few months to get it all ready so lets start a roll call and hear some suggestions. Track will be North Texas MX - index

The park is north east of Dallas up by the OK border.
Hey keep me informed if you get this together. Maybe I can get it covered by Side by Side Action as I write for them and live in north texas. Email me at texmudder@ansley.net if you get it going.

Re: Texas UTV MX Race!!! June 9th 2008
I'll be up for racing. Just need to know the requirements. Also need to know the date. The title says June 9th but that is a Monday. Is the race really on a Monday? Either way, still will be up for the race.

It is the 8th then, haha. It will be on a Sunday. As far as requirements, helmet, eye protection, gloves, is a must. I would love to see harnesses instead of the stock belts, and a cage if possible, but this is all just starting so I dont expect everyone to have the time or money to get a full cage and everything, except Shane. haha

It would be killer to have this covered my SxS Action, they have a great magazine. What about a dealer profile too??? haha. We are really trying to push the UTV stuff in the North Texas area.

Re: Texas UTV MX Race!!! June 9th 2008
Sounds great, I would definitely have to race in a stock class this time around. I would really love to get into the race seen.
Does anyone have any more information about this race. Like what is the buy in? Is there a registration form that needs t be filled out? Do you have to have a rider with you? Is there any kind of rule book?
Sorry to be asking so many question. I am new to this.

Re: Texas UTV MX Race!!! June 9th 2008
I'll be putting a cage on by then. I race cars and understand the value of driver protection. I'll probably break out some older race gear like fire suite, full face racing helmet, and harnesses at the very least.
There is a UTV racing organization rule book that we can start with, and if we can really generate enough interest in this part of the country, we would need to get a sanctioning body setup to coordinate everything.
I don't want to beat this horse dead and not have this. We can make this a gentlemen's race with zero tolerance for contact and two basic classes. Some of kind of stock class with very limited mods allowed where all the smart guys will run, and a modified class with major mods where all the idiots that spend way too much money on these things run. Unfortunately, I would fall in the idiot....errr I mean....modified class
If it looks like we have something going, we'll run it through the whipping machine and make it more formal. Let's just keep it simple, fun and safe and as cheap as possible.

I agree, I would want to get this to the point where every race has a clearly defined set of rules on safety, driver conduct, class structure, etc. Right now with it being soooo new to the area, I just think we need to get as many people as possible interested in it, then we develop the rules and put them to use.
We can make this happen, I'm not worried.
