4 point and 3 point

i am planning on installing some 4 point harnesses soon, and wanted to know if anyone keeps their stock 3 point harnesses when doing so. IMO, 4 point harnesses don't let me move around enough at times when i need to see what's going on when i'm crawling or for whatever reason. just wondering if i had to take the factory belts out to install the floor mounts for the 4 point harnesses.

Re: 4 point and 3 point

My 4 points bolt to the stock holes..so i had to remove the stock belts.
I guess if you want to leave the bottom ones in you would need a new place to mount them.

Re: 4 point and 3 point

i mounted up my new 4 point harness and yes it does bolt to the lower factory mounts but you could leave your factory harnesses in place with just a longer bolt and maybe a washer in between the two should not be a problem -bone-

I didnt realize either how much 4 points restricted you ... of coarse it makes sense, I also just was not expecting how little you can tourn your head around too. Now have a long convex rear view mirror and two large side mirrors and no more worries.

Re: 4 point and 3 point

For those of you with 4 points, do they ride up on the lap portion? I was told to get 5 points to avoid this? Any truth to that?

thanks

Re: 4 point and 3 point

I think the key is in the adjusting of the belts. I found that with my 4 points, I want the belt portion adjusted first and snug, then the shoulders, which can have a slight amount of give in them as long as they keep you from launching forward in the cab or sliding off your shoulders, I've had the best luck with the above adjustments.

Re: 4 point and 3 point

3" wide 5 point is the safest way to go IMO. They are a lot more comfortable than 2" belts and the sub strap keeps the lap belt where it should be at all times.

I don't understand why you would want your seat belts to not be restrictive, they can't protect you if they are loose.

Re: 4 point and 3 point

Ive really only seen one post stating whether or not the lap portion rides up. Do the 4 points cinch down enough to not ride up on you, or is the 5th a better alternative?

only thing that I Can see being a pain is trail rides where you want to get in and out of the rzr often.

The 4 points will ride up....how much depends on your body type, how hard you drive and in what terrain.

The important thing to remember is that the sub belt is not there just to keep the lap belt from moving up during normal driving it's main purpose is to keep all the belts (and the occupant) in the proper (safest) position during an accident.

There were 2 deaths in Rhino's (posted on other forums) this week where it was reported that the occupants died as a result of not being safely belted-in during a slow speed rollover.

Sure it's a little inconvenient, takes a little more time to put on and costs a little more.......but just think about what those two families are going though.....

Re: 4 point and 3 point

couldnt agree more. But If Im going to spend the money and have to take the extra time getting in and out, might as well get whats most comfortable too. We decided to bite the bullet and go with the 5 point crows.

Ballistic RZR-----Where do you mount the crotch strap to, got any pics of your installed harness? Are they hard to adjust for different riders? Where did you get them?

Re: 4 point and 3 point

Yeah, 3 inch with the padded shoulder harnesses. A friend has the same set up and really likes it. so that was how we decided. Now I just have to get my cage moving.
