Kids as passengers

High all, I've surfed quit a bit looking for thoughts and opinions on kids as passengers. I found the threads on the bench seat for 3 which is cool. We are considering this option. Would like to see some pix of one in use... That is with seat installed and 2 adults and a child buckled in.

That asides though, our lil one is 6yrs and about 4ft tall and 50 lb. So the factory seat belt is not comfortable for him and not safe enough alone. With him just sitting in the as an adult would.

So last weekend we tried using his booster seat from the car. He loved it.
The belt fit much better and snugged up nicely.... Plus he could see better and reach the oh' crap handle much better... just putting/cruising around the yard or trials but still looking for better safety.

we plan to get 4 points or the 3 seater or both soonest.
Looking for what other have tried for the young ones.

I have the Regular Crow 5 point's in a 2" with sewn in pads and a sternum strap to keep it on my sons shoulders I also use the graco highback booster too guide the harness straps where they need to go.

Re: Kids as passengers

As you can see my son is 2 1/2 I think it would be really tight to have a 10 year old in the middle. I'm also going to go with the JR. Dragster Crows with sternum strap and pads because the shoulder straps are shorter and fit much better. On the regular one they don't go as tight as I would like.

I droped the pics I had hosted of a guy who had a single seat in the reat and a full cage that covered the rear bed. Another option.

That idea hit me couple rides back. After I posted the question and it works pretty good. Helps the stock belt fit better and the kids see better. Just don't call it a car seat in front our 6yr old... It's rzr seat... lol

thanks for the pic's rzrgrl... the little one looks ready to go again... you don't have pic with 3 in that seat do ya? I've been looking at the bench seat... as an option but tis pricey..

But really like the idea of bench seat till our son is to big to ride in the middle... his 6 now and average hight for the age. so wont be to long...

another reason though is...
Wife's Dad bought a yellow Rhino with the extended roll cage and back seat with 4points. The kids all love it, but when we ride together they all want to ride in the rzr... :-) So the bench would be nice for 2 kids too... Just got talk to the boss and see what she thinks...

thanks BigSilly450X for link. I seen that just the other day...looks cool... But not sure how I like the seat up in back of me on the rzr. We trail ride on 4 wheeler trails and some are very tight and steep. That and I wonder what it does to the center of gravity...

Supposed to rain here in Bama... Hope to go ridding Sunday should still be nice and muddy... Hope I ain't working... :-(

thanks folks,
pbmax

Your not an ass. Graco now makes the Graco Nautilis car seat it allows a child to be in a 5 point up to 65 lbs. And it is much cheaper than the Britax the Britax is almost $300 and the Nautilis is $149. I'm keeping Cole in a 5 point as long as possible which will be a while he has gained only 1lb in a year cuase he doesn't stop moving ( or talking )

Re: Kids as passengers

valvil, i agree absolutely, your not an a**... Concerns about safety is why I posted the question...

I'm just looking for the best and most safe solution for our family... I really like the bench seat with 4 or 5 points idea.... But tis a bit pricey. Is probably the way we'll go though.

But second would be a well fitted car seat with harness. Now I that I think about it, if I could bolt a car seat in with the console that might be kinda cool. Might be a pain to get the seats out though. But a good car seat with harness in the middle would cool if it could be done right.

Re: Kids as passengers

Yeah this seems to be a real popular concern for those of us with a small kid. I bought the 3 person bench seat from TMW Off-road (they're the only ones that have it.) Anyways I love it! It's not for 3 adults by any means. But it works awesome for 2 adults and 1 child. Here is the link to their website

TMWOFFROAD TAKE TIME TO PLAY

The install was easy and they were actually really great to deal with, unlike some of the other guys out there (ex:dragonfire, SDHQ)

They built my RZR for me and I couldn't be happier!
