Stock seat / Suspension seat Modification

Well the story goes like this..... Spent the extra money to get the fancy seats on my "white lightning" xp so I just couldnt throw them aside just yet.... I was at glamis with my 12yr old son and got alittle crazy in the whoop section and used up all the travel in the RZR... thus having my a** use up all the cushion, and make a nice sharp pain in my lower back... The xp is 99% of the time fine using the suspension but.... I made this MOD for the 1% I am driving faster than I should... Check it out... Send me a email if you need more info..
2nd seat: Well I built the other seat and took more pictures.... Key things are the using a sutable cutting tool (because the base has "ribs" to make the base strong) If your not good with tools dont mess with this die grinder / death machine. Possibly use a cutoff wheel or? That mini saw worked perfect for me, quick job of all plastic. Mark the opening with 3/4 wide electrical tape or? its hard to see but look for a ware mark from the seat base ... than lay the tape down for a guide. Cut open seat base and seat bottom, remove internal plastic piece (staples on that to hold seat cover, does not seem to change look of seat. Drill holes one inch apart, lace it up like a shoe (aprox 15 feet of parachute / bungee cord) Thats the quick version.

Re: Stock seat / Suspension seat Modification

Not sure yet Just droping down on to it it seems worth the time and money.... Its not a Mastercraft but I know its got to be better than stock. Parachute cord was 10 bucks and it took about a hour to do give or take... cheap way for alittle give..

Re: Stock seat / Suspension seat Modification

I'd also like to know how good it works. My cheeks are a little wider than that hole (and I'm not a fat a$$) so it will be interesting to find out how good it works. I like the idea for sure! Good job!

Re: Stock seat / Suspension seat Modification

Ok nothing to tricky, just make a hole in bottom.... No to be serious I need to do the other seat I will take photos and explain from that.. Again its not a perfect answer to a real suspension seat... And I agree on that last comment my ass aint that small either but the seat gives better and there is a place for your tail bone to go instead of into hard plastic. After I do the pictures try it.... it might save some pain in your back.

Re: Stock seat / Suspension seat Modification

Same idea as the seat lowering bases the vendors sell for suspension seats. Should work as good as the stock seats will allow.

Re: Stock seat / Suspension seat Modification

Looks good, I like that your letting the boy do work . Quick question for you. I used to live in Flagstaff back in the 90s, is the cinder pits still there just northeast of the town? I used to live right across the highway from them and worked at the feed store there, back when I was in highschool. Wish I could ride out in the pits again. That was alot of fun growing up. I have heard Flagstaff has changed alot now.

Re: Stock seat / Suspension seat Modification

Cool, I am going to have to get back that way some time soon. Alot of great memories of that place. I went to Coconino Highschool. That just popped into my head. Funny the things you forget. Thanks for the info.

Re: Stock seat / Suspension seat Modification

This died on the vine...thought I would have had more takers, took out the Xp yesterday noticed a better feel in the seat. Wont know how it does on G-outs until dune season. But for sure a good cheap MOD.

Re: Stock seat / Suspension seat Modification

How'd this seat work out for you? Have you had any trouble out of it? I'm thinking about doing this mod this week myself.
