Test Drive Sparks Racing XP900

Over Labor Day weekend at Pismo dunes, I had the chance to see and drive the Curtis Sparks Shop XP900 in both duning and straight line situations. All I can say is WOW this car is ridiculously fast and smooth. It is all motor with no power adder. When driving this car you can easily pull the front wheels off the ground at will and carry them as long as you are brave enough to hold the loud pedal. When playing at the drag strip the car was a real kick in the pants, and almost addicting. Fast turbo cars could not out run this car despite only having 2 wheel drive. Duning requires serious throttle control. Unlike other mod cars I have driven, you cannot simply slam it to the wood and shoot a dune. Things happen very fast. The cool part of all of this is the car is very simple. Nothing exotic, just what is needed and nothing more. It is smooth and has a very nice sound without a lot of noise. The car is as happy cruising as it is hauling a$$. Great performance with no heating issues or other finicky crap. Good job Sparks.
Having purchased ATV products from Curtis before, I expected it to run good, but I was blown away. Thanks for the ride sir.
I don't know why anyone would do an Apex etc. swap when this is available for probably half the cost or less. Check it out.

I wish I had some to post. This was not planned. We were out there and saw this car. We started talking to Curtis and he offered to let me and a few others test drive it.

Curtis is a Solid Builder and has always been at the top of his game in the ATV world.....I am glad to see him onboard with the UTV market.

Re: Test Drive Sparks Racing XP900

I hung out with Curtis at dumont last year. He does great work and always puts his best effort into his motors. I know whats in his personal car. If the rules require non turbo then hes a great choice for your build.

Re: Test Drive Sparks Racing XP900

Last I heard 13:1 big big bore, alot of headwork with oversized valves, big cams, pcv with alot of timing work, carrillo rods and head studs and race gas or e85, i think sparks exhaust and a wideband.

Re: Test Drive Sparks Racing XP900

Hi HoleShot,

You must've misunderstood the conversation you and Curtis had. We are working on some 1,100cc strokers, but the shop car is approximately 1000cc high compression, std. diameter valves, our cams, CNC porting, our exhaust system, and intake. We run a dyno-tuned PCV with fuel and ignition tuning. As DBR1990 said, nothing exotic, just the right combination of machine work and parts.
