Oil change

Did my first oil change in my XP900 today and looks like I'm gonna have to go buy a little bit more oil. After changing the oil I checked the level per the manual, run for 30 seconds wait 15 then check and the oil is just barely at the bottom safe mark on the dip stick. Guess just one of those instances where the motor needs just a tiny bit more than normal. This pretty common with the 900 motors? I've noticed over the yrs that sum motors usually require a little more and sum don't.

Re: Oil change

Just did my second change on #1 and checked #2.

#1 (which I've driven like a madman since I got it - break in is warm it up and let it rip, non of that be careful and nice crap) doesn't use a drop. It has 68 hrs on it.

#2 was down about half a quart - it's the "guest" ride - nobody drives it hard. It only has 25 hours on it too.

How much oil did you put in it? Did you use the Polaris kit for the 900XP? It includes 2 1/2qts

Re: Oil change

My 12 XP uses 3.5 per change. Did they lose a quart going to the wet sump ?

Re: Oil change

If you put 2.5qts in, your good. Did you screw the dipstick all the way back in when you checked it?

Re: Oil change

Dipstick wz all the way in and I used all 2.5 quarts in the kit. Didn't even spill a drop when pouring the oil in the motor. Just expected it to be a little further up the stick than the bottom safe mark.

As BCRacing confirmed, 13 model wet sump lost a quart in the redesign. Yeah for our dry sumps !

Re: Oil change

Ok now I feel like a dummy. Wasn't even thinking about the change from dry to wet sump.

I just did my 13 the other day with the correct kit from polaris. I was also short on oil so I went and picked some more to top it off.
