I just bought a 17, 4t ESP. 23,800.00 great deal. I have 5k more to spend on what not. I have ideas but input would be great. I have never driven it yet. That new. I' picking it up from the dealer Friday.
I'm wanting a new roll cage, new rugged radio system and lower door inserts. Seats are a maybe but can wait.
What if anything do I need after that? I like to go fast in the dunes but this will likely be a trail rider in the desert and mountains here in NV.
What do I need to know about his machine?
Extra belts? I see a belt temp kit with fan for cooling.
I like the look of the larger tires but to be honest I have a free supply of stock tires, all I ever need.
So the big question is what to look out for, and what to get?
Big fun on the way for you!!! Didn't see it on your list, if you like to run hard and fast seat belts should be your first purchase. 3" wide with shoulder pads are what I prefer. As for keeping your CVT drive clean and cool check out our prefilter kits and "CVT Blaster II.
I have not seen the seatbelts yet. I bought the SxS off the net from a dealer about 110 miles from me. I'm not new to off-road cars but new to SxS.. ok seatbelts. I love to go fast and hard. My wife and girls are not fast. I seen the belt cooling filter kit you have, does it have a gauge too? is it auto on and off?
1. yes new to SxS.
2. no way.
3 ok.
4. yep, any kind? stock or after market?
5. thanks
Looks like I will need to find a long trail to go drive on. How fast is too fast? I can just cruse and trail ride for a couple hundred miles for sure.
If you have had off road cars when you see the stock seat belts it will make sense, especially if your putting your family in it.
Our kit does not come with a gauge or auto on. We prefer to put it directly to a switch. A lot less to go wrong and you can leave it on for an extended time after you shut it down to remove excess heat soak from the CVT components.
Enjoy that new ride!!!
Regards,
Cagewrx Race Cage and roof. PRP seats with Click 6 harnesses. I'd suggest the Polaris Full doors, for just a few hundred over the Half doors. Plus matching graphics. If your set on the Rugged radios, you probably won't need the Ride Command. But you could mount a Garmin Zumo 590 to you steering wheel column. That's about $5k. Post pix later.
I put the Blow Hole fan on the clutch and Razorback temp gauge. Gauge is pricey but it's pretty sweet. Gear Grabber shifter is pretty cool if you wanna go from Hi to reverse or Low to reverse without even having to think about it.
Congrats and Welcome. I just bought mine this month. Personally, I would do a cage and belts first. Take your time and brake in the motor. Right now, my RZR is at the cage builder. I have sent him 4 of my rides. He does really good work. I also found a company in Riverside, that does pretty clean work and is very affordable. Mine is at FU2 motorsport right now. The other place in Riverside is call UTV Speed Inc. Rugged radio is great to have when you are in a group ride. I installed one on mine when I brought her home. We went on a 220 mile run to the Grand Canyon, and it was great communicating with everyone in the group. It is always great to have extra belts. Yiou can get them local at GTP Off Road. I prefer not to use the Polaris stock belt. When the go, they tend to wrap around the clutch shaft and can cause damage. A friend spent $2000 to get his fixed. I like the gates belts. When they go, they fall apart in chunks. Plus they are A LOT cheaper than the Polaris belts.
I also live in Vegas and will be more than happy to lend you a helping hand with things.
Mark
He is in Winnemucca. I got a better deal due to end of the month sale for him. the have to sell it or pay for it. Flooring fees most car and other dealers do...
I'm getting the cage from DBS Offroad I like the looks. with front intrusion bars and tire carry.
I did not get the full doors, I just grabbed the alum inserts for the bottom for 150.00 I will keep an eye out for some used ones. I will likely wrap the body with a military gun themed wrap.
Going on a 100 mile or so ride this weekend. Nice and slow.
Welcome! If you need any help with winch bumpers or tree kickers for that we make them.
Proper break in, and try not to let friends take it for a rip. We have a friend that has had his last two RZRs rolled by a friend haha. He even was in the passenger seat and broke both arms!
Yeah. Only family will be driving it.
I'm still trying to figure out how to mount a 4 point harness with out having the bar in the back of the seat higher than the stock one or a seat with a guide to hold the straps up in the correct position. It seems to be too low to work correctly..
Well today was the first time I took the RZR out. I mad it 300' and back before it shut down.. Water temps were like 330+ I think the water pump is not working. or some part of the system is not working. It looks like there are 2 pumps. The dealer who i 120 miles from me is sending a truck to come pick it up.
I don't know. It starts up just fine but gets hot really fast. The shop I got it from drives them 2 blocks to get fuel after get them ready so it must have been working for a few. They said it went through a few heat cycles as part of the set up. I did take it for a quick spin in the back yard! holly molly that thing is fast. I almost crashed 2 times! Lots of stuff in the back. Sure is different from my sand rail that makes almost 300 HP. feels faster.
Turns out the electric temp sending unit was sending false temps by over 150* It was barely warm and the system was saying turn the fan on with in 2 min and then shut down. The shop replaced everything electrical to do with the temp system and reflashed the computer. They also took it on a 20 mile trip to test it out. temps held at 192. The shop is shipping the RZR back for free Thursday.
I would recommend an S&B particle separator. I ride north of reno in all desert and went through more air filters than I care to admit to. The s&b has my air filter still looking great even after large dusty group rides. Hopefully that cage came with a roof, that was my second investment after harnesses.
I did not go aftermarket cage. For now I'm good with the stock cage. I will check out the S&B it is dusty here for sure. I have done about everything else so far. Still only have 40 miles on it. My back is killing me so I have not used it Much. I need better seats! I will also send out shocks to get setup. I'm still looking fro a spare tire.
check out RSR performance i believe he is in fallon and can get your suspension set up for you as well as do anything you could ever want done to the car.
Yes the stock seats do suck but over time you will learn to relax in the car and not be bracing so much as long as you have harnesses.
I would also double check your stock suspension settings, spring preload and compression clicks that is. Mine clicks were off from the factory and my preload on the rear shocks were off from each other by almost an inch. If i recall correctly i run 14 clicks out on the front and 14-16 clicks out in the rear depending on how much weight i have in the car. Also the car handles drastically different with two people in the car, it really feels amazing, by my self it tends to feel kinda harsh. Watch your lower front A arm bushings mine wore out pretty quick, check them by grabbing the top of the front tire and pulling away from the car watching and feeling for and play or rocking motion. Really shake the shit outta it to make sure the bolts are tight as well as that was one of the first things to come loose on my car.
Grease your chassis often, it helps eliminate the squeeks, also good luck greasing the drive shaft, its a pain in the ass at best and requires some clever engineering on your part to get to it. a swivel head on a grease gun helps out a lot.
A light bar will help emensly when driving at night, stock headlights suck. I would highly recommend spending the money on a nice light bar as the china ones do put out a ton of light, they just don't shine very far out. I ended up buying two spot pods to go along with my cheap china light and at this point i could have bought a nice bar and not have this huge draw on my battery.
Get a bag and carry trail essentials. I have been building my bag for some time now but carry the following with me.
light jacket and wind breaker
two bottles of water
two energy bars
binoculars
lighter x2
matches
toilet paper
hand sanitizer
100' rope
fix-a-flat can
plug kit
small automotive air pump
cresent wrench
factory tool kit
spare belt
flash lights
flask of whiskey
spare lug nuts
spare stock front tire
jack
fire extinguisher
And probably a few other small items i cant think of right now.
now get out there, break her in right and be reasonably gentle and she will last you a long time!
