Move back the seat?

Has anyone taken a Rzr 4 XP or 800 and moved back the driver seat to accomodate the taller guys? My Dad made the mistake of buying a Teryx because it was more roomy inside he felt. The Rzr 4 was not out at the time and he didnt like the crammed feeling of a Rzr S. He is tired of the small feeling and bumpy ride of the stock Teryx. He has ridden in my Rzr and likes how smooth it is. The XP4 or Rzr 4 would really change his mind but he wants more room. He likes the way I cut my dash to free up some room but the leg issue is still there. I just want him to get out and ride more. Anybody see any seat modifications done??

I have thought about it. You would need to either build a custom cage or modify the stock one. The seat belt bar would need to move back then build a frame for the seats. It would be easy stuff for a fabricator. It would be the ultimate ride.

Re: Move back the seat?

My brother moved his seats 3" back and 3" down. Of course, he's setting it up to be a 2 seater only. As soon as he gets a deep dish steering wheel, it'll be pretty comfortable. He's 6'2". Moving the seat frames is the easy part. It's the aluminum work to fill in the gaps and new tower for the shifter that is time consuming.

Re: Move back the seat?

Contact Jagged X as they have been taking XP4's and making two seat race UTV's out of them. They race BITD with them. Tons of leg room, with extra storage room behind the drivers seats. They can do a full race conversion for $10,000. It seem like allot of money, but to convert a play car to a full blown race car, that is pretty cheap. Your dad would not need a full race conversion, but they could help convert the car to a large two seater giving your dad all the room he would ever need.

Re: Move back the seat?

You can move the seat back 2-3 inches just by bending or removing the little loop that comes off of the middle bar. It spaces the front seat off the bar so it can be used as a hand hold. It would only take a few minutes to adjust the seat back on the base and bend that hoop back. Just be careful after that passengers in the rear don't get fingers pinched.

Re: Move back the seat?

This is a post I did previously.

XP4 Front Seat Lowering project with Triple X seats
Thought I would take a few minutes and share my front seat lowering mod. I got new Tripple X seats and they seemed to run just a tad bit higher than stock. I have always wanted a lower buggy seat feel and wanted an adjustable seat as well.

So I hacked the frame and lowered the front seats 3 inches. I would have gone lower, but I ran into issues with the console plastic around the shifter. I wanted to modify as little of the plastic as possible, so this was my compromise. I completely eliminated the stock seat bases. I bought the adjusting rails from Polaris and modified them as well, using only the one inch sliders, not the odd extenders that go with the stock seat bases. So in essence the seat is mounted to the adjusting rail which is mounted to a new frame rail that I fabricated. The battery was relocated to under the rear seat. I am very, very happy with the outcome. Low comfortable seat that is fully adjustable.

Hope someone finds this interesting or useful.

Once you have a lower platform built, you can put the seat wherever you want. I wanted both back and down. To make it look clean takes alot of calculating. I chose not to go to low as to require the shifter tower to be hacked. I love my result. Enjoy.

Cool to know...I need to get my dad to take a look at the Rzr 4. They didnt have it out when he bought his Teryx. He rarely drives the thing bc he doesnt fit in it too well and it rides like crap IMOP.

i re-drilled the seat base and bent the little support behind my seat. i got 1.5" which makes a huge difference.

Turf-Skin, Why were the two pictures showing the conversion removed? Reason posted for removal was "forbidden links". I was not linking anyone anywhere. Yes the photos were from **********, but is that the reason to remove them? If so this is the only site I know that is that concerned with it. It's not like everyone does not know that the other sites exist, and I would assume 90% on here also check out those other sites. BTW I mention and link people to here when on other sites so it goes both ways. If it was not for someone posting a RZRForum link about something on ******, I might have never checked out this site.

yes, the photos had logos to a competing forum so that is why.
To my knowledge the Admins don't want any logos, links, or discussions about competing forums.
But let's not hijack this thread. If you have any more questions please PM me and/or an admin like FJK.
