wiring help with switches Polaris to UTV Inc

I am trying to replace the stock head light switch with the one from utv inc switch. Polaris switch has five plugs in the back and utv inc only have four. Everything works but the switch wont light up. Anyone run into this problem and have a fix. Thanks

Haven't seen the switch, perhaps you need a jumper from the lead that feeds the headlights so the switch illuminates.

Seems like to make the factory ones work it had to be a special switch. Double pole double throw? Cant recall. I have 5 of them wired up but not the factory switches.

Give nick a call sure he can tell you.

Without seeing the switch I am just guessing but if the only problem is the light in the switch won't light up, it is probably missing the ground. The switch is just dealing with 12 volts out to the lights but when you have an led inside the switch, you need to supply the ground. Give UTV a call and see if you can get a diagram of how their switch is arranged.

Re: wiring help with switches Polaris to UTV Inc

The top LEFT prong is the 12v in for the LED. so however you want that to turn on would be based on you.

If you want the LED to turn on when the switch is turned "on", wire it as above.

If you want the LED to turn on when the key is in the on position, then wire it to a hot ignition wire.

Hope this helps?

Re: wiring help with switches Polaris to UTV Inc

Got it fixed. The Stock switch comes with two grounds at the top of the switch you remove the one for jumper for led. Then you take out the bottom jumper for led and put that where you just took out the ground one. Then on the stock switch there is a prong right beside the jumper for led at the bottom and you move it over to the bottom jumper for led and it works. The spare ground just heat shrink it up and it will not be reused. Figure i would post the answer to my own question in case someone else runs into the same problem. Thanks UTV Inc and Johnny swtichs look awesome.

Re: wiring help with switches Polaris to UTV Inc

I did not do that switch yet but you probably would. This wiring help was for buying stock wiring harness with swtichs. So i replaced the stock swtiches with the new ones from UTV INC. I will be doing the headlight switch soon and when i do i will post what the fix is for that.

Re: wiring help with switches Polaris to UTV Inc

Do you have a similar drawing for the 8 terminal winch switch (SKU 3352) that I recently ordered? I ordered a horn switch and have wired that, it looks great, just like factory. The winch switch that I currently have has only 3 terminals/wires and I am a little puzzled as to which of the 8 terminals on the new switch I connect them to.
Thanks, they are a great looking product and you shipped to Canada very quickly.
