Stock Gated Shifter

UPDATE This is installed, go to page 2.
Anyone tried to retrofit the gated shifter from the xp1000 Special Edition Gold Metallic into another xp1000 ?
Looks like it could be bolt in if you bought the steel bracket the shifter mounts to, but its $269 by itself, plus the shifter price of around $100.
But if you fab your own mounting bracket you could have a gated shifter for little over $100.
The appeal of the Polaris shifter is it will shift from H to R, where as most aftermarket gates are L to R.

Re: Stock Gated Shifter

Following..

There's some aftermarket options like the Gear Grabber, but would love to see a factory option available - even if lifted from a SE model.

Re: Stock Gated Shifter

Where do you get $270?? Try $70.

Most the parts are the same as the regular shifter. Here are the only parts you need to swap it over.

7558402 (x4)

I feel like I'm missing something. I went thought both schematics and that is all I see though.

Re: Stock Gated Shifter

What Im referring to is the shaft the shifter pivots on, it also includes the mount the gated shifter bolts to.
Look under your shifter boot, only thing you will see is the shifter and the shaft it pivots on. Theres nowhere for the gate to bolt. Thats part of a subframe that goes under both seats.
Help me out with somewhere I can look at the parts schematics and I will show you. The polaris site isint showing me schematics anymore. What site are you using?

Re: Stock Gated Shifter

looks to be like your right with those numbers ... only thing i cant figure out is how the gated plate is mounted ? the bolts that mount in downwards go to where? i don't recall seeing a place to bolt that down like the schematic. last time i had the console out was yesterday lol.

Exactly my point.
That part is in a diff schematic, it looks like a frame that the seats bolt to. Its two rails that go almost full width of the interior and has the shifter mount on it.

Re: Stock Gated Shifter

Re: Stock Gated Shifter

yes that would be the whole seat base at 221 $ hell no lol .. be better off with the gear grabber at 350$ ( better product for almost same cost ) what i am wondering is that bracket for the gate wonder if they changed the whole alignment of the shifter post to get it to line up? if not a guy could just weld the bracket to his older style seat base and not have to buy new. only one way to find out i guess ...

I agree! Hmm time to fire up the welder.
While I'm there it might be time to put a switch in there for my reverse lights.

Re: Stock Gated Shifter

My other Q, is the shaft the shifter pivots on the same diameter, or did they change it to accommodate the side to side pivot?
My dealer has a Gold Edition on the floor, I might have to take my calipers down and do some measuring.
Again, only one way to find out.
Great Idea about R lights. Are you familiar with micro switches? they work great for stuff like that, And you can find two or three of them in an old microwave, or radio shack.

Re: Stock Gated Shifter

only thing that i don't know about is the gate its not much of a gate.. lets say your in high or low for that matter stand the rzr up on two wheels and need reverse in a hurry and you slam that shifter forward. from the looks of it. the gate could just bounce the shifter into park. the notch isnt really deep and its smooth instead of locking in?
