XTR GPS and Rugged Radios

Anyone have both and figure out a good mounting setup for both?

I really want to put the GPS where the cell phone holder is but then don't know where to mount the radios. If I mount the radios there you almost have to do a bar mount for the GPS.

Trying to get some ideas while I wait for my 4 seater.

Re: XTR GPS and Rugged Radios

I got the Polaris GPS mount in the dash where the cell phone thing was. I use a handheld radio but my intercom is mounted below the dash in the center using the bottom half of the Rugged bracket. If you move your seat up at all your knee will hit the radio bracket. It also makes the front drink holder useless.

Re: XTR GPS and Rugged Radios

I have my XTR mounted on the omg bar and is perfect for the passenger to operate. The driver is still able to see and operate if need be. I'm waiting on the XP4 1000 to see if this bracket is still gonna work on the new one. Some have mounted them overhead on the roll bar but I think that would be dangerous to have to look up all the time. Don't have a radio setup yet but that would leave the center box free for that.

The OS bar sits back in the dash. Not sure your going to have room to mount GPS on there.

Haven't got mine yet but that is the reason I had Frank take some more pictures. It might take a bracket with a different bend on it. Or, may have to go different route entirely from the 900.

Re: XTR GPS and Rugged Radios

Yea I thought about it over by the grab bar but my problem is I use mine a lot marking waypoints, zooming in and out to find roads, etc when we explore the desert so need to make sure its easily accessible.

Re: XTR GPS and Rugged Radios

Yea I did look at it but the problem is the Rugged Radios with the vertex radio is wider than the Icom so would have to get a new radio to mount it there.

Re: XTR GPS and Rugged Radios

I really like my GPS in the cell phone position. You can see it and operate it very easy.
Anything mounted below you will hit your leg on.

Re: XTR GPS and Rugged Radios

Hate to bring up an old thread, but do any of you guys want to sell your center storage pod or even just the door assembly?

The wife heavy handed the plastic latch and broke the mounts.....so now I'm on the hunt for a replacement.

Thanks
