Two extra switch positions with knockouts pre cut. Can't wait to see what the aftermarket comes up with, probably a replacement with GPS built in.

Looks like polaris has been paying attention. This is way better than pulling the entire front plastics off to access the dash.

Have you removed the steering wheel yet? Wandering if an after market wheel that was bought for the 900 will fit.

Re: XP 1000 dash removal

I noticed there is an amazing amount of dead space under/behind the dash. It would be a nice place for Polaris to add storage in the future.

I purchased a DragonFire Quick release wheel and while attempting to install it today found that it is nearly impossible to remove the old wheel once the nut is loose/off.

It appears that a certain type of puller is needed and not just any standard 2 or 3 prong puller will work. I've read all of the threads on this board and difference between the XP1K and prior Rzr's is that the new wheel is not simply round and will not allow for any kind of damage free "pulling" using the standard steering wheel pullers available. I contacted RideNow and they were clueless and simply stated "yeah, it's gonna chew that factory wheel up pretty good". That's simply not good enough for me so I've begun to search for the right tool for the job. If anyone has anything to add that's 1k specific that would be great.

I have the RR like you have.

Can you point out the details of how you mounted your setup in the dash?

The manual says "Remove the upper steering shaft, pivot tube and steering wheel as an assembly before attempting to remove the steering wheel. Loosen the nut and back it half way off the steering shaft.
4. Place the assembly in a vise.
5. Using a large bronze drift and hammer, strike the steering shaft nut to pop the steering wheel off the shaft taper "

DO NOT HAMMER or use and impact gun while the shaft is connected to the EPS unit or you will be buying a new EPS unit.

Thanks for the input and response. I found the thread with the above directions but to be honest am looking for something that doesn't involve taking this POS apart and who has all those tools handy? I'm also certain that the dealer won't follow that advice at all (based on the directions they gave me earlier today).
