Re: Report any 2014 XP-1000 problems here

Mine makes the same drive line noise, glove box won't stay shut, and seat sliders are still working but seem so cheap it's just a matter of time. Overall Polaris seems to have improved the machine in many ways, these are just the few complaints I've found so far.

that would require cutting and welding.
unless they are talking about lining up the front half with the rear half when you slide it onto the splines...
but I don't see how that would matter.

Looking at that assy drawing you might have to phase the front to rear driveshaft. There is only one u joint on back shaft it looks like.

Re: Report any 2014 XP-1000 problems here

File this under -- Isolated Incident .. .. Perhaps a bad dash AWD switch ??

One of the Forum Vendors strapped their 1000 onto their 2WD Dyno and made several pulls to establish a base line for product development.

At 20 MPH the AWD kicked in and spun the front tires. Imagine their reaction - On a 2WD Dyno !!

As a temp fix -- They blocked up the front end and removed the tires.

The question is -- Is this an isolated incident ??

Thought I'd post about this incident and see if anyone else has this issue .. ..

Sounds like some dealers are completely in the dark....ours out here in Eugene has zero clue what I'm talking about.....I guess when it breaks they will have to fix it, but if it ruins one of my road trip rides, I'm going to be pretty unhappy with ppo......

I saw that and was curious myself. Have had it happen with a 900 mid pull and scared the $h!t out of me! Curious if they could have just disconnected the plug to the front diff instead of removing the front wheels. Looked pretty sketchy to me...

OK,, I see it now.
I just picked my XP-1000 up today and it is making the same noise that RZR-Fryguy's is making.
I will check to see if the u-joints are out of phase on mine.

Re: Report any 2014 XP-1000 problems here

Hey Nate .. .

I watched that video a couple of times - Also read your comment as to a possible reason this occured ......... But the Vendor made this statement -- It happened on every pull at this same MPH .......

If the switch were defective -- It would be a random occurance at various MPH.

Soooooo ......... Has Polaris implimented this to occur ??

Thanks for posting your observation/thoughts .......

That is my concern as well Sparky. I really hope they are not now making the decision as to when you should be in all wheel drive... That could take away a lot of fun. Regardless, I will have a unit on Tuesday to strap down and find out for myself....fingers crossed.

We only removed the front section and the noise went away but it could have been the rear causing it. I was talking with the mechanic and he mentioned it could be because the carrier bearing is rubber mounted but the front Diff is solid and causing a weird harmonic with the Drive Line off just a little. That was all speculation and why they wanted to call Polaris before they dug any deeper into a brand new unit.

We were there from 11 am to about 3:30 or 4 pm on a Saturday. When we got there and he signed for the unit it had 1 mile, when we finally put it on the trailer 19 miles on the clock and 1.7 hours of test driving. The owner of the shop was doing the driving while his mechanic was siting on the passenger floor with the center console out trying to diagnose the problem.

This is the same dealer I bought my 900 from great group of guys, small shop, Very involved and great prices. I cant say enough about them.

Perfect place on this forum to give that dealer a very high level SHOUT OUT
