Re: Who were the 5 lucky winners???

They said they were $25K value---So here in Ca. at 27% income tax and 8% sales tax it would cost the new owner approximately $6750 to receive it.

I would love to be in that dilemma right now. I think I might could scrounge up the required taxes to claim such a prize. Hopefully the winners will be able to do likewise.

Re: Who were the 5 lucky winners???

It just dawned on me. Did they say a "drawing" to determine winners or did they say "giving away" 5? I suspect the latter. I know one person who is getting a free one from the factory. Great marketing ploy. Get thousands of email addresses info for advertising out of something they were going to do anyway. Certain Polaris affiliates need machines to promote marketing activities and aftermarket design. If this was a raffle then I believe they would have to disclose who got the free ones. Just my take on this.

Re: Who were the 5 lucky winners???

I think you will see a winners List soon , It takes time to notify , get press releases , and arrange delivery to the winners . And no 1000 have shipped yet .

Re: Who were the 5 lucky winners???

These new machines address everything on the wish list for us RZR guys. I know you are going to take it to the next level (can't wait). Ghee, I remember riding with you when you had an 800. Too bad I am moving to Arizona next month and the RZR is in Arizona from now on. I want to do the Colorado trip next year (can't this year). Probably be back in NM in about a year to buy an XP1000 from Rose Dale. So you think I can still win one of those XP's?

Re: Who were the 5 lucky winners???

Having fun with this (don’t take it seriously),
Wish Polaris would sponsor me! I’d do a 50” model for the right coast (east coast people), yea 50”wide of top heavy handful! I’d do a 64” wide by 4 foot lift for the mudders in the southeast with the new auto mud dump system (adapted from modern sewer technology). The Midwest would get extra suspension to haul around those big beautiful corn fed ladies. And for you left coast (west coast) people a zero energy use machine that runs on BS. It still costs because there is a pay per use hour meter on the dash. And for the southwest, how about an XP 1000 with a turbo and nitrous boost for those big sand hills?

Im sure here in cali you wont have both taxes. Its one or the other. It also depends on what you claim and how your taxes are done at the end of the year. If I didnt buy it, im not paying for sales tax. Item was not sold to me.

Usually sent from my Droid3 using the browser, lol.

Texas Re: Who were the 5 lucky winners???

Not to hijack but we've made a couple of turns here anyway. On the tax thing, as some of you may remember, last month my sister won a 2013 XP4 LE and a trailer to haul it on from a local high school. The subject came up about taxes and she said they valued the whole thing at $15,000 for tax purposes. The RZR alone retails for what? $19,600 I think??? The trailer goes for at least 1500 in these parts.
I wonder if this is the norm or what.

This is the one she won.

For $100k working Joe in Ca:
27% income state tax (is that right?)
28% fed income tax
6.2% FICA
3.8% Medicare
That’s 65% before you add in all the other taxes:
Vehicle License tax
Sales Tax
Utility taxes
Gas tax
County, local, school, property tax
And did I miss a few more?
No wonder people choose not to work and vote for more free stuff

You won't get it registered at the DMV without paying the 8% on the estimated value of the gift which would be provided by Polaris----Then it would be treated as gift income with the IRS and state---But if you itemize your deductions, then you would be able to lower your taxable income by the amount you paid to the DMV----So that would actually bring it down to about 5K out of pocket to the Ca winner.
