Interesting camera angle
Okay, so this is actually a Rhino - but I thought the camera angle interesting enough to post it anyhows:
YouTube - Rhino extreme - Kolibki Adventurepark -1
Aside from being rather cool, it makes it look like they're travelling a lot faster than they really are! At some places it also looks like it's superimposed and the video is just a back cloth

Re: Interesting camera angle
Wow great angle--and rock solid mount. I've had good results mounting a camera right on the front bumper tube but didn't think extending out that far would be smooth. Or safe for the camera.
Hmmm...gonna have to buy a stick of conduit & give this a try.

Some how I don't think conduit would be the best material...

Re: Interesting camera angle
I can tell you that single stick of conduit is a waste of time.
The vibration will produce horrible video.
I am suspecting this was done with a 2" receiver tube and some
very heavy tub with several strong ratchet straps (you can see them) trying to hold the tube steady.
I've built several and none were satisfactory.

Hey it's thicker than the rollcage!
I'm imagining a 3-point mount that attaches to my bumper light hoops and one leg dropping down to the lower skidplate. The camera would mount at the apex. Key to this working is to use a very lightweight camera. I have a helmet cam I've used for similar projects and it weighs almost nothing.
I did a front perspective shot once using this quick & simple mount:
The footage turned out good but i like the idea of moving the camera out farther and getting the entire front in the frame.

Re: Interesting camera angle
Instead of hanging it off the front bumper what about off the roll cage out in front so it might not take up so much space.

Re: Interesting camera angle
OK well I didn't post the reason for the camera being there. I wanted to get a few seconds of the driver to edit into a clip. My usual location for the camera mount is on the rollcage between the headrests. Now my snorkels are in the way.
This video was all shot with a pocket camera in Video mode. Mostly handheld. The different angles and camera positions make it a little more interesting to watch. So does music.

Re: Interesting camera angle
We've done this sort of stuff at work for photography (purely for the purpose of getting motion blur) using mounts designed for the purpose, they "stick" to the bodywork by suckers... rather big suckers, with a mechanical clamp that you turn and turn until you think the bodywork is going to pop out! Very expensive, but wouldn't work for the RZR I think because of the plastic, maybe?
In any case most have got a brushguard up front which is a great starting point to bolt stuff to which you've made yourself. Provided the brushguard itself doesn't move that is. I imagine there are professional clamps which bolt to round section too, I ought to ask the guy that did ours.

Re: Interesting camera angle
Search eBay for "O clamps" like in my picture above.
4 for under $20 (US). They fit 2" tubing and have snap-in inserts that fit 1.5". I'm using 1/8" cork sheeting to adapt to the 1.75" rollbar and other size tubes. The cork is cut to fit and carpet-taped in place to line the clamp.
These are composite quick-release clamps with a nice steel wingnut & large mounting stud (removable). Once tight I can lift the Rzr by the clamp!
The clamps that polaris uses to mount the overhead light bar are available separately, too. Very nice but expensive.
