Re: Hard top or soft top?

If you are riding woods I wouldn't recommend the soft top unless you are going to trim every low branch in your way. Otherwise the soft tops come on and off real easy. I prefer the hard tops because we ride woods, which aren't very hard to take off either, mine is four bolts.

Had the soft top for two years now. Put over 1000 miles on....90% in the woods and always pulled on an open trailer at over 75-80 MPH. Never had a single issue.
Bought a Tusk for $45. It is more of a canvas type material and pretty tough.
Think some of the others are like a vinyl and easier to rip.
So if you want to save some cash try the tusk soft top. It is pretty good. If you don't mind spending a little more and having a bit more installation/removal time, then get a hard top and you will have nothing to worry about.

Re: Hard top or soft top?

I do a fair amount of high speed desert running and I have a hard top (Polaris). One of my buddies has a soft top, and it drives him nuts at high speed because it starts flapping. Just something to think on.

Re: Hard top or soft top?

I have a soft top and mostly ride in the mountains on Forest Service trails, also ride around town and down the highway. As Wyomingite said no problems. I've owned a couple of Jeep Wranglers with several different style soft tops so I'm familiar with them. What I like best is I can take it off and put it back on quickly. I suppose it depends where you ride, but in the mountains its nice to have the option to take it off and enjoy the views.

plus the soft top is cheaper.

Re: Hard top or soft top?

One of our Rzr's came with a Soft Top. It lasted one Ride in the Mountains. Limbs tore it to pieces. Get a good Hard Top and be done with it.

Re: Hard top or soft top?

If you have the financial means I would get the hard top, because eventually you will probably want to go that way anyhow,
If money is tight and I know it is for me then get the soft top and enjoy the benefits now, you can always save up for the hard top later.

Re: Hard top or soft top?

I like the look of the soft top better, but the hard top is more durable.

I personally have a soft top. Only thing I did was line the cage under it with velco, so even at high speeds it dont flap around. Even when it is fully tightend down i found it flapped around in the middle.

Re: Hard top or soft top?

Everyone has their preference. Mine is the soft top, I have the "Bestop" complete soft cab system, had it for years and I almost always have it on. My RZR is a daily driver, its street legal and gets better MPG than my Duramax so I drive it to work. The soft top prevents "Top Heavy" therefore lowering rollover factor. To each his own and I own the soft top and love it !! Good Luck. KC.
