My 2012 RZR S Build In Progress

I recently purchased an Orange Madness 2012 RZR S. Here is a photo of it the day I brought it home.

I started the build by ditching the stock cage, stock seat belts, and side nets. My friend built me a custom cage and bumpers using .120 DOM for the main hoops, and then he filled in the rest of the cage with .095 DOM.

We then installed an aluminum roof and polished it to mimic chrome. I had the cage powder coated Home Depot orange, which I think ended up being the perfect shade for what I was after. We also powder coated the Pro Armor door frames to match the cage. I think I am going to powder coat the roof black to match the doors. What do you guys think?

I then bought some 4 point quick latch harness from Pep Boys which were cheap and work awesome. You guys need to check into these things they are $59 a piece, so can't go wrong on the price. There are several of us in the area that run these harness, and I haven't heard one complaint about them.

Next came the music. I wanted something waterproof and not too fancy. I ordered some motorcycle speakers off of Amazon. The speakers came with an amp and brackets to mount them to the cage. They only cost me $50 and are completely weatherproof. I am using my phone to play music from Pandora, which I may change for and Ipod not sure yet. For cheap speakers they sound pretty good and are plenty loud enough.

Finally I finished things off with a Smittybuilt 3500lb. XRC winch. 4 wheel Parts was running a special on these at the local store. The winch was on sale for $99. So I ended up getting the winch and lifetime replacement warranty for $141 tax and all. Once again I figured I couldn't go wrong.

Here are some pics of the progress.

I need some help on the next step of the build. I am getting ready to order the rzr bench from Twisted Stitch. I am not sure what colors to do on the seat. I am leaning toward keeping it simple, black seat with orange pipping and stitching. Any suggestions?

I am also waiting for EPI to make a clutch kit for the 2012 model. I talked to them yesterday and they said that everything should be ready by mid December, but you know how that goes.

Who knows where this build will go from there. Only time will tell. I think so far it has turned out pretty good. I have to enjoy how nice it looks now cause I know it is all down hill from here.

The bumpers are custom built and tie into the cage giving it a lot more strength. Its a little over kill but I like piece of mind.

I didn't end up getting the cage finished till Saturday so we just decide to ride at LBL on Sunday. We are planning on riding either next weekend or the following weekend.

The speakers are the 100 watt Pyle motorcycle speakers on Amazon. If you search ATV speakers it will pull them up. I haven't had them on a ride yet but I have them playing while I am working on building my son a tree house. For the cost they sound pretty good to me. I don't really need or care to have a bumping system just want to hear a little music.

Thanks I am glad I went with the orange. I really only had 3 choices to use white, black, or orange. I think the orange was the right choice.

The guy I bought this rzr from sent me that pick when I was on my way down from TN to pick it up. He lives in Alabama and is a huge Bama fan. I am not really that into college football even though I am from TN. I know I should bleed orange. I just can't get into to it I would rather be riding or working on junk.
