I'm in need of a battery as my OEM has failed. Should I go with the Odyssey or Optima? Are any modifications needed to install either?

OK im so confused. I have a 2010 RZR-S i have the J-Strong radio. If i leave the stock battery sit in the garage for more than a day its dead. Im always afraid its going to die on the trail if i leave the radio on for more that a minute. Whats the best change for me. And I always have to keep the stock in a trickle to keep it going. HELP ME.

Yeah I know, that's where I screwed up. After I reached 12.5 I disconnected the parallel connection and kept the Redtop on the charger by itself (don't ask me why I did that) I should have just disconnected it or left it on a trickle charge but I'm an idiot and left it on the full charge. Bye bye battery! :(

Here's my question for the 2lb'r.
What about extended single digit temps? There isn't a battery out there that I know of that can handle it with out a battery tender of some sort.

Thanks!

I also have a odessey 925l...absolutely love it. Easy to replace stock battery, and I'm running, 30" light bar, hid headlights, led spot lights, 40 blue leds under the rzr, 2 lighted whips, and a 1000 watt stereo system, and have not had any problems or even flashing battery lights. Best investment so far.

I have also have the PC925L, but I have it on a surepower isolator so it just runs my accessories and the factory battery is left inplace as is. Great investment!

I'm having problems with my Optima yellow top now..... gonna have it tested and see if I can get it replaced. Won't stay charged with no draw.

Hey Jim.... thanks for the reply. Please don't take my post as a knock on your product. This yellow top in my RZR is about my 5th or 6th Optima I have owned. And we only run Optima's in our race truck. I think its a great product.

I took it off of my Deltran battery tender tonight and it read 13.11 volts. I will check it on Thursday to see what it is at. If there is any lose.... I will charge it back up completely then remove the battery cables completely.... and try it again. I don't think my RZR has any draw.

I'll keep ya posted on the results.

hey bubba. I did alot of research on this. As for me i have two 2011 rzr-s and i was considering the optima batt but went for the odyssey batt. for only one reason. I did not have to mod my rzr's at all. they fit right in the slot next to the factory batt slot. and i left my factory batt in place. so that if anyone else had batt problems. i could share my factory batt with them to get them going again. or use it for my self. they work great i have 6 plus 55w lights a stereo and winch on the odyssey and no probs what so ever. hope this helps ya.

Hi rrose, I certainly don't take your comments as a knock at all and I'm glad to hear you've been pleased our batteries. We always appreciate feedback on our products (good and bad) and if I can be of assistance, I'm happy to offer it. It sounds like it is able to fully-charge (approximately 13.0-13.2 volts for YellowTops), so the question is whether it will hold close to that voltage for 12-24 hours afterwards. If it doesn't, you are already on the right track, by recharging it and disconnecting it from your vehicle, to see if a parasitic draw is the source of the issue. If I can be of further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Alright,
I just ordered the Lithium-Iron battery for a test run. Probably gonna run a second one soon but trying to keep things simple for now.

But as I am NOT an electrically minded guy, I have a few questions:

I have ordered the "seperater" kit from polaris that will allow me to run the second battery in my 2011 RZR-S seperate from the main/stock battery. I have (4) 35w halogen lights, the LED stock headlights and a 600w stereo system and finally a winch. I have plans of adding 2 more lights for bed/backup lights and two more straight beam style for the front.
Am I heading in the right direction for what I have and have planned?
If I can fit more than just the two batteries, will running parrallel burn anything up? Trying to keep my accessories seperate from my "get me home" battery.

Its a toy and a hog hunting machine so I definitely want to light up the sky but I don't need a bunch of weight added with the Optimas/Odyssey and I don't want to cut anything if I don't have to.

Thanks Guys!

Battery is unimportant. What is important is buying a Battery tender. That way your battery doesn't sulfate. I've had the same battery in my Harley for over 5 years and never had a problem starting it. Note this is the stock battery the bike came with. I'm using the stock battery my 2009 RZR-S came with in 2008. It also uses the stock battery it came with. I also have a 1966 Mustang that I bought in 2003 with a used battery. It still has the same battery. All of these vehicles use the Deltran Battery Tender and no problems. And no I don't work for Deltran.
