Exhaust silencer

Has anyone built an effective exhaust silencer? I love the roar of the S exhaust but on long rides it annoys me just a lil bit and I feel like I have to scream at my girlfriend when riding with her just to carry on a normal conversation. She complains about it sometimes and on top of that I have misplaced the spark arrestor that comes in the factory muffler. I took it out to see how it sounded. It didnt make it louder just gave it a better sound so I left it out but I dont know where I put it. Im about to install a stereo so Im looking for a way to quiet the exhaust down. Im thinking about building something that will mount like the factory spark arrestor with one bolt or even maybe a clamp so it can be easily removed when I want it loud. Anyone done this yet???

Re: Exhaust silencer

I put one of these on my S.

It is much quieter. I have noticed no difference in performance.

Do you have any pics of this setup? I was really wanting to build something of my own design just for a project but I may end up buying one. I have a few designs and ideas floating around in my head.
