2013 RZR holds four (4) quarts of oil

I put a remote filter on my RZR WE 2013 if an effort to increase the oil capacity and cool the oil. With the help of Joe at Ultimate Rhino and believe me without him it is almost impossible almost. He really helped me and had the parts that could not be found or did not exist. Now holds four and one half quarts of oil. Pics included. Thanks, Jerry

Re: 2013 RZR holds four (4) quarts of oil

Thats pretty cool man. Unfortunately it wouldn't work for me as I have my donaldson filter tubing routed right through that area. Might keep an eye out for a potential stick being poked through it but I doubt the chances are favorable for that. Nice job fella's!

Looks good, but.
Can't help but think a more protected/less vulnerable location that didn't interfere with belt replacement would be better. JMO

Re: 2013 RZR holds four (4) quarts of oil

I thought long and hard about the location and tried several experiments. Have you ever gotten a dent in your muffler or had it torn off, I hope the answer is no, I have not. I hung a plastic bottle in that location and all it got was dirty. It is protected from the front, top, rightside, and bottom. Now will it get mud on it, yep. That filter and bracket could not be torn off with a ball peen hammer. You have a rubber aircleaner hose right there and it dont get any damage. A plastic clutch cover and it doesn't get damaged. I can change the filter easy and quick with 2 new quarts of oil in about 30 seconds. It gets a good breeze there to help cool the oil. The hoses are only 20 inches long both of them and 1/2 inch inside diameter, and kevlar reinforced hose. That is a big filter and it will not fit anywhere else, you could hang a smaller filter on there in a more more protected place but would loose the extra quart and a half of oil and the cooling. A gallon plastic Clorox jug rode 4 days on RockHouse hung right there with hose clamps, nothing but mud. I took the bed off in an effort to find another location, no luck. 2 1/2 quarts of oil is not enough, it doesn't have time to cool between cycles, even if you change the oil often it will not help the cooling problem. Thanks, Jerry

Ya, you're right. But in case you haven't noticed yet, the GOOD STUFF usually does cost a bit more; like hay that hasn't been through the horse yet........LOL.

Cheers

Re: 2013 RZR holds four (4) quarts of oil

does the larger filter cause any issues as far as restrictions for the sump system?

Re: 2013 RZR holds four (4) quarts of oil

This filter setup actually helps the oil pressure, this filter is made to pass 10 times more oil than the polaris standard filter. It doubles the oil normally carried, easy to change and filters can be bought anywhere. It is a wix racing filter, 10 to 12 micron but has much more area to pass the oil through. The media used is a high flow media, and the filter adapter is made for 1 inch lines but the filter is made for 2 inch lines. I stepped them down to 1/2 inch lines. Dropped head temp 15 degrees while the filter is clean, once covered with mud only drops 10 degrees. It is a NASCAR type filter adapter and filter. Thanks, Jerry
