i leave mine in neutral. Mine moves around with even the best strapping methods. With the stories of people breaking the parking pawl in the trans, i dont want to chance it.
I haul ours on our flat bed Chev 2500HD, loaded crosswise. Put it in Park, set the parking brake, run 2, 1/4 inch grade 8 chains, one from the right bed tie down to the trailer hitch on the RZR, second chain from left bed tie down to the front of the RZR tie down slot, throw 2, 1/4 inch binders on and hit the road.
Hauled into Utah several times and down to Prescott, AZ, and back home, many miles local also. No problems at any time.
Yes it does make for a little challenge seeing on the right side but no more that when the toy hauler is hooked up.
Les
Much the same as Les, 16 ft flat bed or toy hauler. Drive it up, put in neutral, set parking brake, put it in park, shut it off. attach 4 tow straps. set the ramp up and latch it. Ready to go.
I also leave mine in neutral. I strap the wheels with tire bonnets and call it good. Like others have said, even in Park or Drive it will still move against the gear. I don't want the extra wear.
I put the machine in neutral and use four of these, 2" straps...
Two pulling forward, hooked into each side of the frame, here...
And two pulling rearward, hooked into these clevises...
I stop about every 100-150 miles or so, to stretch my legs, use the restroom, or fuel up, etc, and always walk around and just visually check everything (tires, trailer lights, straps, etc). Sometimes, the straps may stretch just a tad, but I've never experienced any issues. Been using this same general process on every vehicle I've ever towed, for nearly thirty years and works great.
I use park, no E brake! Then add straps to rear as pictured with clevis's, the front bumper or a arms.
Strap it down, drive a few miles for a shakedown, stop and recheck all straps. I also use a small tether strap to the bulk head of flat bed, or winch line just in case!
I usually don't go more than 100 miles so I'm not too worried and take back roads, but still make sure it don't move an inch in the 100 miles! Many ways to skin this cat!
