2013 RZR 800 Clutch Belt Change How To?

I have a new 2013 RZR 800, and I don't understand how to change the clutch belt. I watched the online video. However, the 2013 secondary clutch is different from the 2009 clutch shown in the video. The 2013 does not seem to have any way to open the sheaves to create slack in the belt for removal. There is nothing wrong with my belt. I just like to learn how to fix things before they break on the trail.

How are 2013 owners changing out belts?
Thanks!

I would think you could just roll on a new belt.. Most likely on the trail if you are going to change it you will not have to worry about removing the old belt it will probably take care of that its self.. I have had mine off in the shop but I always pull the sheaves..

Just need a little muscle. Pull towards the secondary and start it off the pulley(secondary). Keep rotating/pulling to the side and it will come off. Installation is the same. Other way is to romove the retaining bolt on the secondary and give it a tug. Once it pops off belt removal is simple.

Re: 2013 RZR 800 Clutch Belt Change How To?

I just did mine yesterday, piece of cake. I just "rolled" it off/on the driven clutch. It's easier than it sounds, really. There are a few things I wasn't too impressed by, though. First, I'd sucked water into my CVT housing a couple times. I've never been in deep water, barely over the floorboards, not even close to the seats. Still, some dried muddy water in there. I think it's due to the lack of any kind of shield over the air intake, if you hit puddles fast, it splashes up there and can get sucked in. I think that's what happened anyway.

I cleaned up the clutches/housing with the pressure washer and then dried with compressed air. Also washed the new belt in dish soap to get any mold release off. Everything seemed to go fine, clutch engagement was smoother after the job.

One other disappointment-the clutch cover is pretty flimsy, nothing like a Yamaha or Can-Am one. Also, it's just held on with self tapping screws into plastic. Every other ATV I've worked on has thread inserts in the rear housing, and used quality machine screws. Polaris cheaped out here, use care not to strip the screws.
