Weird 570 problem
Picked up a new 570 an was breaking it in this weekend. Have about 50 miles on it and coming across an odd problem. After accelerating then applying a steady brake I'll hear a sound that sounds like air is being released. After that if I hit the gas it will just rev and it won't move, as if I was in neutral.
If I put it in park then back to high it goes back to normal. This happened about 3 times and I can't replicate it on demand. Anyone else have anything like this?? |

Re: Weird 570 problem
YES!!! It happened on my first trail run with my RZR. Only had maybe 15-20 miles on it at the time. I stopped on the trail for a second, and when I went to accellerate, I went WOT(I wanted to see how well the engine responded as I hadn't been past 2/3 throttle before that). It pulled hard for the 1 second I pinned it. I lifted off the throttle and when I pressed back down (only maybe 1/3 throttle) it just revved up....no movement. No belt burning smells or anything. I had just went through a puddle before the stop so I immediately thought, OH GREAT!!, this thing can't go through a little water without the belt slipping!! I put the tranny in neutral, revved it up for about a minute, put it back in drive and it worked just fine. Never happened again!!. I now know it wasn't water in the belt housing because I purposely went through even deeper water, faster and it didn't happen again. I believe that the clutch sheaves were not responding to rpm changes when new. My dealer said that he had a customer experience the same thing the one time. All I can say is that the RZR has worked flawlessly since. I hope that this will be the case for you as well...Good Luck, and let us know how things go!

Re: Weird 570 problem
Well i just got back from riding another 40 miles, no signs of it since. I'm going to take it in for it's first service and mention it. Don't really understand what would make it do that...

Re: Weird 570 problem
I believe that the clutch sheave when new, sticks a bit, and when accellerated, the secondary (driven) sheave opens but does not close upon decelleration. I have basically run the crap out of mine since the hourmeter read 10 hrs and I haven't experienced it again. I will mention that I took the drain plug out since and noticed a powery look to the inside of the belt housing. I suspect that this transmission really need to be broken in slowly. I'm not one to break in an engine slowly, but in this case, it might be best for the transmission. I'm popping the cover off tommorrow to inspect.

Re: Weird 570 problem
Don't mean to hijack your thread...I had a similar problem:
Just got the 570 today. Started it up, let idle for 5 minutes in N, then 5-7 quick bursts on the throttle like the book says. Put it in R gave it some gas and it wouldn't move. Put it in L gave it some gas and it wouldn't move. Revved the piss out of it and then wham, it slammed into gear and crept forward. Very little throttle response at all. Felt like I was pulling an 18 wheeler. So, I decided to start over. Let it idle again for another 5 minutes...5-7 quick burst on the throttle. Put it in R gave it moderate gas and it backed up this time but felt sluggish. Put it in H gave it moderate gas and it went forward but very sluggish. There seemed to be little to no throttle response.?. I was able to get it to drive forward and reverse after a few minutes of putting around. Once, while driving forward at approx 20mph, it felt like the clutch slipped and it kicked into gear or something...very weird. I was also hearing a sound like air being released when I slowed down??? Do I just need to let it warm up more and perhaps rev it a little while warming it up??? |

Re: Weird 570 problem
Jwhite, the 570's do take quite a bit of revs to actually get them moving. Having to rev fairly high is normal. I don't think this is just isolated to the 570's either, most rzrs are the same way.

Re: Weird 570 problem
Popped the belt drive cover and checked everything over. All looks good... a typical Polaris clutch drive. I noticed that the primary clutch is made of magnesium which may explain the powery look I saw when looking in the drain plug hole. It was cleaner in there than what I though it would be. I'm not concerned at all. If anything odd happens in the near future, I'll be sure to post!!

Re: Weird 570 problem
I have had my 25 hr service, so not like it's a "newness" problem, but yesterday I was just starting out in Hi and it would only go to about 25 mph. I tried stopping and starting several times. About the fourth try I let off the gas and it seemed like the transmission shifted gears, from then on I had no problem with it. Any info would be appreciated.

I never had that problem. Would like to know the cause though.

Re: Weird 570 problem
I have logged another 400kms since my experience with the tranny hiccup, and it has worked perfectly!!! This seems to be the experience of most...i.e. only having it happen the one time, usually within the first 5 hrs
