Re: Rev limiter

Since I put my new 26"Kendra bear claws on with HD wheels I lost the mid range power. I changed my stock 52 gram clutch weight to 48 gram that was great mid range power. The problem was I hit the rev limiter at 45mph.

Polaris doesn't make a 50 gram weight. So I grounded down my 52 gram stock weights to 50 gram. From 0-48 my mid range power is great. I still hit 56-57 but only at 7300 rpm. So no rev limiter for me.

Re: Rev limiter

Hey Devin, I have 26" tires and I felt that my mid range power was missing. I had 48 weights put in and there and was a ton of mid range but not enough top end. Polaris doesn't make a 50 gram clutch weight and that's what I thought would really work perfectly. I to took my stock 52 grams and ground them down evenly. I bought a $12 scale at habor freight to measure the weight. My mid range is better tha stock and my top end is back to the normal 58 mph on GPS.

I took it out for a couple test runs and I smelt rubber burn a little. I thought it was the belt.
Well after hammering the gas on asphalt from a dead stop about dozen times, I realized it wasn't my belt. I was burning my tires up! Lol.... So if you feel like you lost some mid range with your 26 tires that a good fix.

I was thinking about an adjustable clutch kit but wasn't sure how much of a difference it would make. I didn't notice Any power loss with my tires because they have been on it since New.

Re: Rev limiter

I would go with an adjustable weight. You would pick up some good mid range power.

Are there any on-line discussions on how to do this? Sounds like just the ticket for me. I could figure it out, but prior knowlege is a good thing. Thanx

Re: Rev limiter

To change clutch weights? Pull off your clutch cover, you will see 8 bolts on your primary clutch. Loosen the 8 gold bolts. You will also see your three clutch weights. After you loosen the bolts you can take your clutch weights out. You can't miss the clutch weights.

This is a great time to learn how to change a belt to. I never did any of this and it was easy.
Take your tire off to make this enjoyable and a lot easier.

Re: Rev limiter

Starting Line Products installed adjustable clutch weights on mine and also installed a Team secondary. I think with the Team clutch they actually used a 54 on the primary for the best performance with my 26 inch Bear Claw Htrs.

I thought you had 48 weights in yours?

Re: Rev limiter

When I had the stock secondary clutch I did have 48s in mine when using the 26 inch tires. When I added the TEAM secondary clutch they found that the 54s worked better at my altitude and machine setup.
