RZR 4 vs Teryx 4

Has anyone had a decent amount of seat time in the Teryx 4 and can offer some comparisons. I know it is new but I am curious to hear a good comparison. We rided a lot of wooded, rocky trails and the Teryx4 seems like a good machine for this terrain. What do you guys think about the difference? What do you like? Dilike? etc. thanks

Re: RZR 4 vs Teryx 4

MY BAD !!!!!!!!!!! I had no idea the Teryx came in a 4 seater now. I have no experience with this but I can say, depending on the type of
driving you're gonna do, I would still go with the RZR 4 because of the travel in the suspension. The new Teryx is only showing 8.2 inches
rear travel which probably works well under about 20 MPH (IMHO). My wife prefers the smoother ride vs the hard jolts.

I had a Teryx before my RZR 4. If you are going to carry 3 or 4 people
very often, get the RZR 4 period. As far as 4 x 4 I think they are pretty equal but the RZR has more power and about 10 MPH on the top end.
Converting the Teryx to carry 4 people can get costly and then you still only 7.5" of travel vs. the plush 12" the RZR offers !!!!! I lost about $2000
making the switch to the RZR 4 after 6 months. I am VERY happy now.

Re: RZR 4 vs Teryx 4

The teryx 4 has a shorter wheelbase and overall length which IMO would make it work better in the woods. That with the factory power steering are two nice benefits. Not to mention the amount of room it has in it for the passengers. It also has a higher ground clearance and better break over angle as well. I don't have much experience with it in the woods but have played quite a bit with one in the desert.

Re: RZR 4 vs Teryx 4

Thanks All. I had the opportunity to take them both for a short test drive today. Unfortunatley it was just around the dealership but better then nothing. The Teryx is a tank! It is bigger then I expected although that is not neccessarily a bad thing. No doubt the RZR is a smoother ride however I like the clutching much better in the Teryx. The RZR is very "jerky" from stop to go and I have a real hard time creeping along or just maintaing a slow speed. Maybe this is something you get used to but it seemed to want to go or stop. Teryx was very smooth from stop to go but like I said feels VERY big. This is a real tough choice for me! They are both nice machines. Thanks for all the replies!

The new teryx4 is really nice from what ive seen. If I personally was buying a new 4 seater it would probably be one.

Re: RZR 4 vs Teryx 4

Test drove the rzr4, ranger crew, and teryx4. We bought the teryx4 eps Camo and love it. The power train is very smooth. More power then then crew and felt stronger then the rzr4. Plus, it has a 20" shorter wheel base which any trail enthusiasts would appreciate. The cockpit is bigger and more refined. Basically, you get more for your money with the teryx4. The rzr is cheap, and you will notice the quality difference when you drive the teryx4. The rzr4 dominates the sand dune market while the teryx4 dominates the trail/off-road market hands down. Competition in the market is great and we will all benefit from it. My post is honest since I originally am a Polaris fan. I went to the dealer with all intentions of buying a Polaris 4 seater. I had no idea about the teryx4, and I am so glad my dealer was the first in our area to get one in stock. No matter what you choose, both are great machines that will provide plenty of family fun. We have two young girls and really like the seating and cargo room of the teryx.

Re: RZR 4 vs Teryx 4

My new Teryx4 delivered to the dealer on Friday, and should be in my hands soon...seating position, space, and shorter wheelbase were the big winners for my decision!

Re: RZR 4 vs Teryx 4

Not sure how the Teryx could "dominate" the competition, it was only just released. The RZR 4 does come with power steering standard. Two different machines really. The Kawasaki leaning more towards utility look and feel, the RZR more for trails and speed. RZR for me anyday of the week for hauling 4.

Re: RZR 4 vs Teryx 4

The T4 is built like a tank and is a purpose built 4 seater unlike the rzr 4 which was just stretched to fit two more seats. Id much rather have the T4 for the trails, especially the tighter ones.

You seem to have a big chip on your shoulder against Polaris and their RZRís. Iím not sure why you even peruse this forum? Anywho, I canít wait to meet up with a Teryx-4 the next time I am out on a poker run. It should be fun doing a little comparison especially on the whoops!

Re: RZR 4 vs Teryx 4

I see a 360 lbs. difference between the two....that's a big weight difference. Also, the Teryx4 have 8 inches of travel vs. 12 inches? Again a big difference. However, the T4 looks nice and has a lot of great features. I'm sure it's likely more dependable, mechanically. But for performance, I don't think there's any comparison.
