Re: RZR 4 vs Teryx 4

Kawasaki is a great company. The engine in the Teryx has amazing potential if you spend the money on it. I just am not a fan of it. No I havent driven one, I bought a standard RZR and then an S for the suspension and ride. I never considered a Teryx because of the lack of suspension it has. I dont need a bed in the back and thats really the only reason I would go away from a RZR, and even then I would probably buy a Ranger anyways. Fanboy? Yep I am one.

With that said I am glad Kawasaki released a 4 seater. Again with the right engine mods I bet it would hold up to an XP 4. But that also means you have no engine warranty because you modified the engine. But it also comes back to suspension or the lack thereof vesus either 800 4 or XP 4. To my driving style both slow and fast, it matters. I want a machine that can do both.

I am glad you like the machine you have, but I dont need to drive one to know its not the machine for me.

Re: RZR 4 vs Teryx 4

I didnt call you out only anything except of your lack of experience with the T4 (which I believe is a major point if you're going to give a valid review of how a T4 performs in comparison to a RZR).

Its pointless to keep going back and forth with this.
I said in the beginning that they're different machines each better suited for different terrain. All anyone can give is their opinion about this.

I respect & appreciate that you're happy for people that are happy with the machines they choose. That sounds good to me so lets leave it at that (its not going to be beneficial for to have a back-&-forth on our opinions.

Sounds good man.

I actually enjoy the sporting conversation, and maybe the OP will as well.

In the end, he will see that people are passionate about the machines he is considering purchasing. I know that would build confidence in me if I was making a purchase lol!

I think we can all agree that more competition in the SXS market is a good thing. The more 4-seat machines out there, the better it is for the consumer.

Nice video. The new t4 has got some power. They don't fare to well against the RZR on the trail. My brothers T4 has hard time doing what my rzr4 can do on the trail.

Re: RZR 4 vs Teryx 4

I ended up going with the Teryx 4 as well and I can tell you the RZR 4 can not even think about getting down most of the trails I have ridden. Not bashing just being honest. Does not matter about the suspension it is just too long and cant make the turns as well as I see them high centering all the time. Here in eastern PA the Teryx 4 is the way to go. Out west RZR all the way but TJmck I have to disagree. You must have some wide open trails because the RZR's in my neck of the woods have no chance of going where the T4 can go. 2 different machines which is good for comp. Obviously everyone is going to stick up for what they spent there $ on but I am just speaking from what I have seen on the trails.

Re: RZR 4 vs Teryx 4

So my brothers T4 doesn't count. Okay buddy. Even stock to stock the rzr has more gc and wheel travel. I can't say that we raced on pavement so I don't know what will happen. This is true people will defend what they own, but just because my experience with one doesn't make me wrong. I have owned two teryxs and know there downfalls. My brothers t4 stays parked in my shop half time next to my rzr. So needles to say I do have seat time in both. These machines are two different animals.

I think we are agreeing here.. They are 2 different animals and your brothers does count. In an earlier post you said the T4 cant hang on the trails with your RZR4 and I am simply telling you that your trails must be totally different then the ones I ride because an RZR4 cant hang at all here. Again, 2 different animals and I am glad you are enjoying yours as I am with the T4. That's all.. Again, this is good debate and hopefully alows others interested in a 4 seater to see some comp. Afterall the prices on all of these things are ridiculous so might as well get the one that fits your riding style the best. For me it was the T4 and for you the RZR. Good riding!

Re: RZR 4 vs Teryx 4

I had a 09' Teryx and absolutely HATED it! I spent about $24,000.00 to make it better than a $13,000.00 RZR S and still didn't work. I hated the clutching...spent lots of money, had it machined and still slipped the belt and blew belts! Major PITA to change! I have seen the new T4 and they are sweet, but not for me! Some of my best friends own the local Kawi dealership and I just can't convince myself to purchase one. Then again, as stated before they are 2 different animals, but I can say this...I have had far less problems with my RZR's than my Teryx. And now I pick up my new XP 4 in another day!!!!!

im in pa and my rzr4 will go absolutly anywhere, tight trails, vertical hills, deep mud whatever you can throw at it. a $200 clutch kits solves all the bottem end issues and you cant beat the ride.i still need to add power steering to it and can only imagin how much better that will make it.thats my honest opinion and im not brand loyal.hope that helps

Maybe you are just a good driver? I have a buddy with a turbo'd XP and I can lap him on tight trails because he cant drive for shit. Never seen a T4 on the trails so I cant comment on them other than I personally think they are ugly as sin, but each to their own right?

Dollarsign Re: RZR 4 vs Teryx 4

My ride for the last year is a 2011 RZR 800 EFI. Now I want 4 seats. The reason I am interested in the RZR 800-4 vs the Teryx-4 is because the XP 900-4 does not interest me because of its size. What I want is about a ¾ size XP 900 that is--the width of my RZR (less than 50”, but a 4 seater (about 88-90”)wheelbase like the Teryx-4, with the power of the XP 900. And not so tall as any of them. I didn't say too much ground clearance, I said too tall. I keep watching but it looks like I may have to build my own. The best candidate that I have found to supply almost all the parts is the Can-AM Renegade 1000 X quad, which is less than 50” wide at 46” well within reqirement, has 82 hp, electronic power steering, no speed limiter and Fox Racing Shox Podium X‘s, even 26” aluminum beadlock wheels and 650 watt magneto.. So get a steering wheel, build a suitable frame for the parts and just maybe end up with a good trail 4 seater under 1000# weight with good power and 4x4 and not too many Dollars. I also would like a lower roll bar as can be seen on my existing ride the Roll bar could be 5" lower and put the diamond plate on top. Click to enlarge the thumbnail.
