RZR-4 Tracks?

Just curious if the drivetrain and suspension of the RZR-4 can withstand the abuse of snow tracks like the Tatous, Polaris Branded Tracks, or Mattracks? I'm looking for more than theoretical advice, and would prefer real experience. That being said, I realize the RZR-4 hasn't been around quite long enough for many RZR-4 owners to have experience with one of these setups.

I'm also curious to see pictures if someone has this setup.

I'm not looking to go really crazy or fast, I just think it would be fun to do some casual rides on some of the Mtn. Trails that go up to the popular riding areas here in Utah so my RZR doesn't sit around all winter unused.

Re: RZR-4 Tracks?

I wanted a set for my 4 but my friend had them on his S two seater and the tranny went out. Under warranty he had it fixed. Apparently u should not run in high gear. It puts to much stress on the transmission and since it has a large amount of tread surface on the ground it will rob u of power. Although if u go slow and crawl with an extended warranty u might be ok. I had a chance to drive it in the snow before it broke and man let me tell ya it climbed over banks of snow that was impossible with just a 4x4 Atv.

Re: RZR-4 Tracks?

GO TO HOLZ RACING PRODUCTS GALLERY THERE ARE SOME PICTURES OF US WITH TRACKS ON OUR TWO SEATERS, We have ran tracks now for four years, 2 yrs on rhino and 2 years on 2 nd gen. Tatuo 4s on my rzr s. Now i have purchased a set of the utv tatuo 4s for the rzr 4s the tracks have not caused any differential problems other than taking out the low range in my 2010 rzr s due to a pour design from polaris. Polaris has a upgrade now on that and i have not had a problem since. You dont always want to be running in high gear if the car is under a heavy load its hard on everything, belts, creates heat in the clutches ect. So you at times should run in low. Thats what took out my low range. So if you have a 2010 you might want the trans upgrade if you plan on runnin in low. I have broke low range twice once with tires and once with tracks.

Re: RZR-4 Tracks?

i have been looking for the "snow only" set Tatou track systems for a Rzr4
Not the 4S or the Utv 4S i guess the tracks are wider for deeper snow...who sells them? does anyone know?

Re: RZR-4 Tracks?

Atvtracks.net, they are located in spokane, wa. . The utv 4s tracks have a larger footprint than the tatou atv 4s. For the price of the utv tracks you can't go wrong compared for what the matraks cost. Dont get me wrong matraks are good but you pay for it too. We have took in consideration, weight and gear ratio that changes when you put tracks on also with the 4s they might be easier to sell if you have the 4 seasons, but you have to buy what you want as well.

Re: RZR-4 Tracks?

There is a washer in the 2010 that the gears push up against and when the trans is under a load it puts so much pressure on this washer and keeper that it deforms and allows the gears to miss align and grind. Now they are putting the design of the 2009 trans back in. Polaris originally made the change to shift out of park when you are on a grade easier, which they do but they have the problem with the trans if you run in low range a lot.
