About a month or so ago, I bought a new leftover Odes Mid Size from Kings in Texas. Was shipped crated and they dropped it off into my garage. $2400.
I had to install, the wheels, roll cage, seats, battery, front & rear plastic, and a few odds and ends small pieces. No directions for assembly, but if your fairly mechanical, not a big deal.
I have always ridden Honda bikes, and am now riding ktm bikes, both a standard of quality in assembly/hardware. I know the odes is made in china, and for the most part things went together well, had a few bolts that stripped out without overtorquing (couple of six mm and one lug bolt.) Overall quality was ok. One thing that was goofy was the drivers seat is supposed to be adjustable, but the way they are manufactured when you install it, it is at its max point forward and the seat is rubbing the back of the interior, so there was no adjustment, I ended up making brackets so that it was movable.
Another thing I noticed. WHen I looked at a used polaris, I could barely get into it myself to try out. This was a single a-arm front. I ordered the "Mid-Sized" prowler. I can easily get into and out of it as the interior is 4" longer. This model also has the double a-arms. I am thinking the mini version (polaris) is the single a-arm.
I also had some banshee front shocks on hand that I had intended to mount on the rear, but they are a couple inches shorter than the stock shocks.
In stock condition it would only hit 10mph. I then installed a 1.5" PVC air snorkel with uni pod filter and backed off the throttle stop. It would go just past 10 mph and then fall on its face. I then rejetted and went from a 34 pilot to a 38 pilot and a 107 main to a 140 main. That changed everything, yesterday on the first trail ride I was clocking it at 24 mph in my buddies full size rzr. There is a speedometer in the odes, but I dont think it is accurate, says going over 30 when topped out.
When researching jetting, I noticed the carbs shown in pics where much different/simpler looking than the one on mine. Also, the carb had tamperproof bolts holding the bowl on, so I had to get creative to remove the bolts and replace them with standard head bolts.
This one is a base model with stock shocks and stock wheels, it creates a issue when loading it on my trailer, I have a landscaping trailer with about a 4' ramp gate, that I cannot use because it drags bottom, I had to use my longer planks to get it on.
For the trails we ride on, the suspension and tires will do fine for now until my kids ride more with me (in trails) if they do ride more with me, I will get concerned about better/taller shocks and tires for ground clearance.
At one time I had planned to go with the Pitster xl model which had the bigger tires and better suspension for $3800, but we dont have anywhere to ride around the house and my kids dont go riding that much with me so it was hard to justify the money. The base pister was $3300 which is the same price a yamaha/odes dealer was selling the base odes for which was 2 hours from my home, then I found out I could get the same model for $2400 shipped to my door. I like to work on bikes and quads, so assembly was no big deal to me, my last KTM was also purchased in the crate. I would have liked to get the larger/fancier wheels and suspension, but couldnt justify the added $1400.
Overall, at this point I am pretty happy with it. if things change I will post.
