DIY roll cage builders
What kind of bender are you all using? Could you give me some pros and cons to them, as I'm going to start a new cage here soon. I need all the info I can get, so anything will be appreciated...thanks in advance..

Just stay away from the $75 harbor fraught pipe crushers(bender). They crush the tube and make your bends even weaker then a quality bender. Get something that is ment to bend structural tubing. It's your safety. Don't skimp on things that matter.

For all those guys thinkin bout doin your own cage,I hav 60ft of1.75 x.095 wall d.o.m. tubing for 150$. Changed my mind and jus purchased a cage.

A buddy and I built a cage for a desert truck I was working on a few years ago with a JD2 and just used it again to build one for the Rzr. Worked perfectly. Dies for different size tubing can get spendy after buying the bender, but you'll likely be able to get the bender, the die you need, a notcher, and the steel you will need for what you pay for a built cage.

I'm doing research for the same purpose. Liking what I'm reading on the JD2 bender, but was curious as to which die set others are using to bend the 1.75" .095 tubing for their cage? At $300-$400 a set, I don't want to order one that wont work for every bend I might want to make.

I have a similar style to the JD2. If i bought another one i probably would buy the JD2 though. Its a very popular bender and set up for hydraulics. i have used a fast trick on a ranger cage i built to save money on dies. I used .120 DOM 1.75" for the main loops and .095 1.5" for the bracing. I took a piece of the .120 wall and bent it as far as the bender would. Then I cut the tubing in half long ways. One half was scrap, the other half is an adapter that fits into the 1.75" die and doing this math, 1.75-.120-.120= 1.51" My 1.5" diameter tubing fit right in and bent like a charm.
