Roll Cages too low for tall riders

I've been reading a lot about lowering my seats and aftermarket seats etc. I can't find an answer I'm looking for... I just bought a DGRhinos radius cage that is supposed to be 5 1/2" lower than stock. When I sit in it now with my stock seats, stock seat pans, with my helmet on I have about a fingers thickness worth of room between the top of my helmet and the aluminum roof. I haven't taken it out to ride yet with the cage on but if I bounce around at all I'm going to be smacking my head on my roof. I'de like to get a suspension bench and everything I see raises the seat height over stock, that obviously isn't going to work in my situation. What's my best option? Sell my cage already and get something a little taller, or just keep stock seats with lowered seat bases? I'm 6'5" and I figured I had plenty of room to fit in any cage I wanted.

Re: Roll Cages too low for tall riders

When I ordered mine I made DG offroads make it a few inches taller than his normal build. I'm a little over 6'4. I just installed it a few days ago but haven't sat in it yet. I also have new PRP seats to put in so I hope I fit with a helmet. I should get everything together in the next few days from a rebuild after a wreck so we will see then.

I'm wishing I would have had mine made a little taller too. I didn't realize it was going to be so close. I don't need any more compression breaks in my neck...LOL

Re: Roll Cages too low for tall riders

Mine looks like I will still have plenty of room. The sales guy warned me when I purchased it. He knows my style and said just be careful to make sure the custom cage isn't too short. I thought to myself...why would I ever spend that kind of $$$ on something like that LOL!

Re: Roll Cages too low for tall riders

Haha...ya, who would spend that kind of money on a cage that's too short?...LOL I went and studied it over a bit, under the plastic where the cage mounts, it looks like theres just another extension piece bolted in place there, should be easy enuf to add a spacer to that and where it bolts behind the seat, hopefully I can get enough play out of the back bumper not to have to do much to it there.
