Re: NEW CAGE
I'm surprised nobody has answered your question by now. Maybe the truth is that nobody really knows yet how they hold up. I know some people that have done low speed roll overs and side flops with no issues to the cage. I'm sure that at high speeds it could tweak like any other cage. As far as the best cage, you have to look around and see what will fit your needs. Go on Yahoo or Google and search Yamaha Rhino cages or Polaris RZR cages, then make some phone calls.

Re: NEW CAGE
Stock cages are weak I had to replace mine when a friend dumped it doing donuts. I went with just a stock take off as they are cheap and easy to find. A .95 DOM cage would be cool. I'm thinking of adding a few supports to mine and painting it since it's kinda scratched up. If I do a new cage it will be for a third seat, maybe even a small rear bench seat.

Like the others said, he stock cage is weak, and your head is exposed on a side roll over because there is no bar on the outside of the cage where your head is.
I wouldn't ,and didn't, even take mine offroad until I had a new cage.
If you want the strongest cage then you want it made from Chromoly.
1 3/4" .083 will be plenty strong.
Look for a cage that securely ties into the frame in the rear not just to the bed above the thin 1' square tubing. Also make sure what you buy has cross-bracing.
I would stay away from the cages that do not have rear support period.
Below is a picture (not my RZR) of what cage I have right now. I think they are about $1200 with chromoly, an aluminum roof and a rear bulkhead that attaches to the frame.

Re: NEW CAGE
i agree the stock frame is weak. it all 1" square tubing. when you stip it all down to the frame it doesnt look like much. go with a custom cage with x bracing. its worth the money in a rollover and the peace of mind.

Re: NEW CAGE
What's your location Ballistic? I think location is important too because the cages are not easy to ship.

Re: NEW CAGE
The stock cage folds like a taco when rolled. Lonestar makes a really nice cage, and same with TMW They both have been in business for years and the prices are comparable

Re: NEW CAGE
LOVE THE LOOK OF THE LAST CAGE. could that be made to accomodate a kids single seat in the middle of the rear area?

Re: NEW CAGE
I rolled my Rzr down a steep hill. It rolled 4 times and tweeked the cage some. I was able to fix it with a come-along. I also added some gussets after I fixed it, it looks as good as new now. Next time I roll it I will replace it.

The cage is now weakened, don't be fooled into thinking it is safe.

The next time you roll it you might be so lucky.
