I am new to the forum so go easy. Get the crayons out....I have read just about every thread on this forum and the other forum (P_ _). I understand that a lot of folks talk about the stock cage folding like a cheap suit in a roll over, then I read several posts and see videos of guys turning 'em over with a stock cage and they hold up. Of course they only hold up once. Our riding is going to be in heavy brush and woods on pretty rough terrain (Central and Deep South Texas), so there won't be much opportunity to run wide open and certainly no sharp turns at speed. Most pics I see of guys using these things for family fun, seem to be running stock cages. Am I reading this thing wrong or is it more a Ford v. Chevy kind of thing for those folks who aren't gonna run these things to the breaking point every time out? I plan to eventually change the cage, but first up I'm thinking shocks and seats/harnesses. Or should I move the cage to the top of the priority list, even with the type of riding we'll be doing?

I do alot of the same type of riding it sounds like you do, and changing the roll cage is not a priority. Not in my opinion anyway. I say spend your money on other mods, and if for some reason you see the stock cage as a safety concern in the future, change it then. Besides, as long as you feel its safe enough for you and your family, who gives a shite what anyone else thinks? Your a grown man, you will figure it out.

We just rolled ours for the 5th 6th time this weekend and the cage is fine but it has all been in the sand... I would for sure do harness's though.

I agree with rzrgrl....especially because of the type of riding you do. Go with the harnesses first, then maybe the shocks if you see that yours are not up to snuff for how you ride. If you just mostly rock crawl and slow ride trails, I don't even think it's necessary to change out the stock shocks. Maybe a lift kit if you are having clearance issues.

I am still running the stock cage. First change I did was to put a good set of harnesses in the machine when I brought it home from the dealer. Then again, we always ride with our helmets too.

As long as you are at slow speeds you should be fine. First high speed rollover I had bent the stock roll cage like a piece of paper. So as long as you keep speeds down you should be o.k., But like everyone else is saying get a set of harness for sure.
