Help with Transfer and Transmission Oil Change

OK - I feel dumb but I've searched and found no good pictures so I'm hoping someone can help me.

The first picture is what I assume is the transfer case? Do I have the Fill, Level, and Drain identified correctly? Is the Drain, the 13mm behind the cable bundle? And is this the drain for the Tranny.

Does the "Fill" fill both the transfer case and tranny?

Sorry if these seem like dumb questions.

Bill

Re: Help with Transfer and Transmission Oil Change

In the first pic the one you have marked drain is the level for the transfer case, both drains are on the bottom. The engine oil drain takes an allen key,if you have an owners manual it will tell you the exact amounts to fill each one.I just did mine the other day and did it without removing the skid plate. It's easy just jack the machine up some to make it easier to get at.

Re: Help with Transfer and Transmission Oil Change

OK - I finally found two drains on the bottom (both 13mm) - one for the transfer case and another for the tranny.

Now in my picture, the plug I have labeled "Level?" is it the Level/Fill for the transmission?

Re: Help with Transfer and Transmission Oil Change

The plug on the right, put fluid in that hole until it runs out. Replace plug. Done
The plug on left that is marked drain, remove it, that's level plug. Put fluid into the left plug marked fill, until fluid comes out the level plug, replace both plugs. Done.
Can I get a hell yeah.

Re: Help with Transfer and Transmission Oil Change

Well it all seems so simple now but I'll tell ya this thing had me over a barrel.

Thanks to all who replied.

I think the biggest discovery was finding the drain plug for the transmission - I didn't think it would be up so high - had to use a 8" extension.

Geeze I spent a lot of time looking at the pictures in the manual and it just did not match up to what I was seeing.

So again, thanks to all.

Bill

Re: Help with Transfer and Transmission Oil Change

Pirate -

Yep went with Amsoil for everything but engine, I have a friend who is an Amsoil dealer. I used Mobil 1 0w40 and NAPA for the oil filter.
