Diamond plate roof

I have a soft top on my RZR. I want to get something that I don't have to worry every time I get in the trees if I am gonna rip it.

I started looking at diamond plate aluminum, and decided I want to do black diamond plate.

So here is my question.

Truck tool boxes and such are made out of .063 diamond plate. It is pretty hefty material. One place I talked to can get me .024 diamond plate. I am tempted to try using the thinner stuff cause it will be easier to work with, and it will be less weight to add to the rzr. I am only looking for some protection from the weather and the sun. I am not looking to add any structural integrity to the cage, so I wonder if the thinner stuff would work.

Has anyone worked with this .024 diamond plate before? I worry it would be to thin.

Re: Diamond plate roof

I'd check it out first.
.063 sounds better.
I used .120 and mine weighs in at about 35 lbs for a guide.
Mine is not diamondplate and I wanted something I can stand on- I like overkill.
My specs are available if you want them.
I have given them out to a bunch of members.

wow you used .120 that is thick stuff. I was thinking the .063 was going to be overkill.

Would you mind posting a pic of your roof and specs?

Re: Diamond plate roof

Here is the build.

http://www.rzrforums.net/projects-ho...tock-cage.html

PM me with your e-mails so I can send an attachment if you want the specs.
One item I would add in hindsight is some sound deadening material or rhino lining for the inside.
May get around to doing that some day.

Here is a current picture- added some side lips.
