second- more kudos to motoalliance for providing color photos in the instructions- including the 'new' ones which were pasted over the one's in the instructions...hey at least they tried...

BUT....that's were the good news ends....

armed with having read the instructions here, on the rock crawler forum, and both sets sent with the winch...all the proper tools, fully charged laptop and armed with a lifetime of being prepared for disappointment....

it only took 8 hours!

the quick summary: diagrams for the mounts woulda been nice- ditto the fairlead mount. nuts and bolts- were they metric and no one told me?....sheesh the quality control on them was non-existent. Wiring- was the least of the problems. running the wires from the batt back to the relay...i'm still not convinced they won't wrap themselves around the forward driveshaft first time this goes into FWD...but we'll see.....

thanks to all who helped me get it done and thanks to those on the forum who shared their knowledge

time consuming..yes frustrating yes...having a winch that works ...priceless!
Seriously 8 hours? I only spent about 2, but most of that was because my hands wouldn't fit easily.

The worst part for me was that I had the wires at the winch backwards so out was in and in was out.

This page should help with where the wires go on the contactor https://motoalliance.com/Site.TechnicalSupport.go

Re: Viper winch install

That's why I am so confused, cause it has that page that shows one way and the instructions that came with the winch shows exact opposite on which is positive and negative on the contactor

Not real sure which winch you have, but I know my instructions basically covered both, I just have the Viper Max, and it was simple. In reality they are all simple, two wires from the battery to the contactor and two wires from the contactor to the winch and then the controls which should be a simple two wire hookup.

As long as you have the connections from the battery on the correct pair of lugs, that is all that really matters, if the controller make the winch go out instead of, just switch the pair either at the contactor or at the winch (just be sure you don't switch one from the battery with one to the winch. I also believe that the Viper Winch contactor follow the same universal color scheme, so that may help you by finding better instructions. I included the contactor diagram that came with mine as part of this post since it covers many different models

The worst part I found is the hardware because my big hands don't fit very well and often found myself hugging the front end of my RZR, I like it and all, but the wife was starting to get jealous.

Re: Viper winch install

Ok, got it all wired up and the dash switch is working great, and the remote switch was working but now it acts like its not communicating with the wireless box, the lights come on each but its not working at all now? Has anybody had this issue or know what could be wrong
