Drain For Clutch

Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in.
Installed a simple drain in the clutch cover. Got the idea from the site & tried it. It was a simple install.
I bought the shortest valve stems that I could find. Cost about $3.00.
They came with the rounded ends that you can see in pic 1. I ground them down abit to allow as much water as possible to drain.
I removed the valve to be able to have the water drain. This can be done with a valve removal tool from the local hardware store ($1.50). Or you can use a small flat head screw driver.
Drilled a hole in the lowest & most accessible spot in the bottom of the clutch cover. It took a little bit to get the valve stem seated but made sure it would seal.
In pic 3, you can see how much room you have to unscrew the cap & drain if needed.

Re: Drain For Clutch

Funny this thread should resurface today. I just put a drain on my cover. Just an ordinary 2 1/2" tire valve with the core removed. I sanded the inside end flat to make sure it doesn't contact the belt.

I bored a 1 1/2" hole in the skidplate so I could easily reach the cap on the valve. This length stem ends up just behind the skid.

The flexible rubber stem won't be damaged if I whack a big rock & my skid deflects up a bunch. It doesn't get in the way of mounting or removing the cover.

Re: Drain For Clutch

Why do you guys have water in the belt cover area?
Thought this was suppose to be a water tight case. I am putting snorkels on my RZR its my current project.Reason for snorkels is very dusty area, where I ride in the summer, trying to get fresh air to my motor and the belt. Do I need to do this as well?
I plan on rideing this winter through some puddles not sure, but I don't think I will get in ovet the floor boards, do I need to be concerned?

Re: Drain For Clutch

Its by far NOT a water tight seal. The more you remove the cover the greater the chance of the seal weakening. This is just a quick way of draining the water out on the trails.
