A couple update pics: Project RZR600RR

We had to do a little modifying to get the new engine to fit. There is still a little work left.

thanks guys. If I don't end up breaking too much, we have plans to put a turbo on it over the winter. AWD, 6 gears, 80+ mph, 150+ hp (at the wheels), and wayyy less $$$ than a BBQ. I didn't go 1000 for a few reasons: more expense initially, rear diff. breaking torque, 1000's are less "fun" than 600's, and once I get used to the power and if it needs more I can add a turbo relatively easily later on and the torque will be more progressive than a 1000

now you gotta work on learning how to post pictures LOL
done, haha

Jesus I love that thing. Power to spare. I've seen it in person, it sounds great.

okay, so I have been REALLY slow at working on it. I have a few excuses as to why I haven't been working on it very much but I won't bore you with them. I could "finish" it in a week or so if I worked on it full time, but it wouldn't be up to the caliber of work I'd like it to be. This is the beginning of the RZR dash for the CBR gauge cluster, it will be this basic shape, but in-set like the RZR cluster. The finished fiberglass piece will be held in with plastic rivets in the corners.

Thx guys. Yeah, it is coming along EXTREMELY slowly.

I'm having some custom sprockets made and three of the guys machines have failed in the last week, so I'm hoping I will have sprockets and have the jackshaft completely figures out at the end of Jan. Shocks should be here early/mid January. I just got some round AL tubing for the intakes and a sheet of .090 AL for the airbox. I'm going to be running a Jaz fuel cell in the bed. I'm still working on the gauge pod, work popped up right in the middle of doing the project. After that I will be figuring out the electrical (I'm going to use all the pigtails for the RZR: lights, speedo sender if it will work with the CBR gauge, etc and splice them into the CBR (street legal) harness, trying to keep the wiring cluster**** to a minimum. It will be ready this spring, I am going to have to show up the new 11 with my 118 (flywheel) hp, 90 mph, 13+" travel, and sequential gearbox.

I totally hear ya, it's 20 degrees in the garage right now, I'm working on the fiberglass right now putting a few layers of mold release on it. Depending on how this "blank" turns out, I may make a few more of this basic shape and sell them. I thought I was the first one to re-do the dash like this, but I have seen one other since I started on bscottking21's RC-51 swap, and even then they are both different but same idea, his looks like it was made out of plastic (could be wrong, haven't talked with him). Honestly I'm surprised more people don't do something like it.

edit: If i still can't beat 'em, I'll just take off my shift knob n throw it!

I'm trying to keep it simple ...I noticed in your thread that you were talking about using paddle shifters with door selonoids, I was originally looking into that as well with the Rilltech/flatshifter setup but it would require me to spend $ I don't have. I think I am going to try and move the brake pedal closer to the throttle, and put a smaller clutch pedal in there as well. It's not the perfect setup by far becuase there's not tons of room, but I can't think of a better setup at the moment. I've been thinking about a clutch paddle, but I'm not sure how awkward that would end up being and it's less along the lines of keeping it simple.

"Cheek" used the same slip-on's as I am in his build, so that will give you an idea, he has two on his Hayabusa swap. Mine are off a newer R6, they are 2.0" ID and very see through.

I have solid motor mounts on the trans and rear diff, the motor is bolted to the trans like it was from the factory, utilizing the CBR's swingarm pivot. I am also adding an add'l crossmember that the motor AND trans will be connected to. The whole setup will add rigidity to the rear of the frame. As you can see, the motor is as close to the trans as it can possibly be, AND I still had to modify the passengers side frame rail for additional room. There is absolutely no way this swap could be done on a stock width RZR without lengthening the frame .

(obviously this stuff is just tacked in place, I will completely disassemble the whole thing and weld 360 and add gussets/add'l plate/bracketry where I think it's necessary)

EDIT: finally got the dash done! that was a pain in the ass learning experience, but it turned out pretty awesome! Now I have to just install it when the clear coat is dry enough...

I have seen the cluctch attatched to the shift linkage. It had two small levers and were "geared" together at the pivot points. When one lever moved it moved the other. To operate the clutch you squeezed the levers. When you had the levers squeezed in your hand you then pushed them forward or backward to shifts the trans. Once you were moving you could actually just slap the clutch levers and it would clutch and shift at the same time.

Interesting theory, I understand what you're saying but not sure how well it would work in real life, it would still need an auxiliary pedal for at least starting or stopping. I'm trying to visualize what linkage you would need in order to get the clutch to engage in both directions. It would probably be pretty easy to setup if you were to use a quickshifter for clutchless upshifts and then you could tie the clutch cable directly into the lever without excessive clutch linkage. That's definitely something to think about once I can actually drive it.

This will be attached to a Cummins Fleetguard dual stage filter that I bought from digger357. It will be bolted to the top of the trans. ...This was my first aluminum welding project, so don't criticize the welds too much, ha ha.
