heater install

just trying to see if I can get some pics out to you all. This is a heater core that I installed for about $150bucks. That creek you see me stuck in, it was snowing and 20 degrees outside and I stayed warm and toasty inside the rzr. let me know if the pics go across.

Re: heater install

More pics would be good. Is that one of those Jeep heaters from JC Whitney? I wouldn't mind a heater but I refuse to pay Polaris 30 million dollars for one.

Well its called a flex-a-lite mojave heater. I ordered it from summit racing. I installed it by making a small frame from some angle bolted together and spot welded. The heater hoses connect just outside the firewall in parrallel with the cooling system. I sweated some copper together to make my T's 1" to 5/8" . I also installed a shut off valve to it to keep any residual heat out when its warm out side. now that its warm out, i use the blower alot to help keep air circulating it works great both when its cold and hot outside and its not in the way at all. Everything total cost about $180. The bottom of the heater is about 30 inches from the ground, it concerns me getting the blower motor wet, just gotta keep her 30 inches shallow

Re: heater install

I spent the big bucks for the Polaris heater, but it seems to work good. It'll be real nice this coming hunting season when I get my Cab installed.

Re: heater install

I've seen this one advertised at a couple of different places. It is pretty cheap but not $50

12V DC Heater

I am personally not interested in a heater that draws 300 watts.

I have given this one at JC Witney some consideration. I think it is made by Tommy Toppers or at least they sell it too:

UTV Heater

$210 is a little more reasonable then Polaris. Has anybody tried that one?

Re: heater install

You guys know if you do not run atleast one of the heater lines from the core to behind the thermostat when the thermostat closes you will not have any heat, more noticable at low speed.....

Not absoultly true. I have always had heat and actually more than needed. I didnt want to tap in before the thermostat because I felt by doing so it would prevent the engine from getting up to temp or better said -overcooling; just like when a thermostat is stuck open on your car and you never get heat from your heater. The heater core is cooling the engine. True, the thermostat opens and closes maintaing an optimal temp for the engine and when its open, the heater is pushing out about 180degree air and when the tstat closes the heat output decreases as the coolant begins to cool in the core. But like I say i allways have heat and more than enough to keep me warm and my engine doesnt have to suffer for it.
