Cheap solution to open flow to radiator

I wanted to increase the air flow on the razor. So with a couple of beers down I embarked on a project that had been brewing for a couple of months. I have seen the grills that you rivet to the front plastic and i wasnt too impressed for the price. Plus you still dont get maximum air flow.

I started by cutting the hood at the break point when it turns downward. This first cut is the most expensive, $200.00 is the price of a new hood. After the making the cut I felt a hole lot better about my mod.

Next was a trip to Home depot. First I bought a 12'' X 30'' I think piece of expanded metal. The box reffered to using it on a charcoal bbq. Then a 36'' X 1'' piece of thin wall box tube. 2 wing bolt 1/4'' x 1 1/4'' and a big can of rustoleum black spray paint.

Apon arrriving home I fit the piece of box tube on the top rail of the inner support assy. I used 3 self tapping screws securing it(the box tube) to the rail.

next I drilled holes in the hood and into the box tube. I tapped the 2 holes with a 1/4'' 20 tp tap.

Then I marked and cut the expanded metal to fit in the void between the two supports in front grill assy...

Spray painted the box and expanded metal and installed pieces. Using the 2 torx 27 bolts that hold the grill assy together bolt through the expanded metal and you have a good cheap mod...I cant seem to get pics to load I will do it tomorrow.

Good idea! Wondering if the hood might blow up/off at highway speeds? Have you done something to hold the front edge down?
